A 6 Day Park Hopper through Disney is $314, an annual pass is $519 and I think the DVC discount is $100, so the 6 day park hopper is still cheaper, unless you will be going back within 1 year.

Thanks.
Are there cheaper places to buy park hopper tickets?
If you go only once a year and skew your visit by a week, you can get two trips on one AP, and in that case, it would be cheaper to get the discounted AP. We have been doing APs for DVC travel for about 15 years (even before the discount), and we have learned to travel 2-3 times in a 366 day period to maximize our APs. Note, I said 366 days. Disney actually gives you 366 days on your pass, because it expires on the same date as first use a year later...thus an extra full day.
Which leads right into a question i have. Can i buy the 6 day hopper then upgrade to AP after 2 days of use? that way i could travel the same exact weekend the following year and be covered by my AP? My trips is 3 days and also have a 4 day trip in between so the AP saves me money for sure.

I am sure I will be corrected if wrong, but I believe your AP will be backdated to the first day you used your PH ticket. Waiting 2 days will not give you an extra 2 days on the AP.
Laura

That is correct. The date on the AP will be the first use date on the PH.

ahhhh.....that is a very big difference, so the following year's trip will just have to be a week earlier to get 3 vacay's on 1 AP![]()
a 10 day MYW with no expiration is not a savings over the AP. Word of caution if you choose the AP being a DVC member...be prepared because you WILL go more often!!!![]()

With so close to the diff, I would go with the AP, if you are considering going next yr.
1) you get 10% off nearly everything you buy at every stand from a sweatshirt or rain coat cause your stuck in the rain, to a piece of fudge at the candy shopp, stuff from the Disney store DTD, sunscreen, or even a frame for a photo from Epcot. We figure for each 3 days we are at the park, we probably save 15$ -20$. So if it were that close.. AP for sure.
2) you get discounts on tons of resturaunts. Not QS, but most sit downs.
3) in the event you are in the same situation next yr, you can renew, and renewal is much cheaper, inline with the 6 day hopper, I believe.
The only reason I wouldn't is if you decide you want water park tickets. .. As Disney "water park" portion of the AP, is not inline with reasonable. If it were about 30-40$ less, I think they would have more upgraders![]()
I guess this is a chance i am willing to take, being in NY takes a bit of planning though. I will not make that drive![]()
