AP holders can't do DDP correct?

The dining plan seems so complicated sometimes. So that is why I'm asking you guys.

I'm pretty sure if you have an annual pass then you can't purchase the dining plan. Is this correct? Now I know that you could purchase one day ticket and get the DDP for your whole stay, but I'm trying to compare two seperate trips within a year with the free dining, compared to purchasing an AP and using the room discount from the AP. So confusing.

Thanks in advance.

No, it's not correct - if you are an AP holder you can book a ticketless package (just room and dining). You must present the annual pass when you check in. You need one adult annual pass.

If you want free dining, anyone booking that, AP holder or not, must purchase at least a 2-day park ticket for each person.

Thanks so much. I had no idea about doing it w/o tickets. And that is interesting about the free dining. Which makes my decision even more complicated.

However, I have yet another question. Which I think I have the answer to, but you see how good I was on the last thing I thought I knew. And I know this might not be the perfect place for this question, but thought I would ask, since it is a follow up.

My question is that I was trying to compare the free dining to AP discount. However, I don't have an AP yet, and I wouldn't want to buy it now and have it activated now, because I want the full year of use, and we won't be going to Disney until November. So could I buy it now, use it for the AP room only discount and not activate it until we get there in November. Therefore making it possible for us to do our next trip, next year in October on the same pass.

And actually I do have another question. You mentioned having to buy a 2 day ticket to get the free dining. I know that free dining is based on the nights you stay, not on the days of the tickets. SO could I do the following. Book our trip, with an 8 night stay with free dining and 2 day ticket and then on our first day, covert that 2 day ticket into an AP?

I'm just trying to figure out the best deal, and it's making my head hurt. :headache:

Thanks.

Yes you can do this. And you don't have to purchase an AP voucher now to book an AP room. You just need to have it (active AP) when you get there or very shortly thereafter - as in you can check in and then run over to a park to get your AP and come back and show it to the desk.
