I know this has probably been asked before but searching didn't work for me. I am going to be upgrading to an AP on our next trip and the others in my party (2 people) are not are they allowed to go through the AP lines at the parks with me or do they make you split up?

Just show your AP card and they will let you and your party in. You won't have any problem bringing two people with you. Sometimes that line is considerably shorter so enjoy that perk!

Wait really? I was with four non passholders this last week and waited in the regular tapstile lines with them to be polite. I could have brought them with me?! Good to know.

(I wouldn't bring four with me, there was two of us with and four without, so we'd each have brought two)

Is it actually checked? My hunch is that it's just a sign on a regular entry point. We have APs but never have a card or slider or anything like that.

The only time I've seen them checking is in the mornings before the park opens. They had a CM letting everyone know they either needed to see the AP slider on their MB or their AP gold card. If you couldn't show you were an AP you were sent to one of the regular lines.

They don't always check though. Outside of a couple park openings, I've never been checked while the park is already open. It also depends on the CM.

The AP line can be just as long during the day as every other line, so I just judge by how many people are in it and go to whatever is the shortest line I see. However for rope drop, I always go to the AP line. Usually at that time they have the AP line form a single file line, it can get long, but then when they open it's usually two sides of the tapstiles. So while every other regular line is long and has two touchpoints to enter, the AP line usually opens up to four touchpoints. So you're getting in twice as fast

I have on other trips noticed that the AP line can be longer during the day but I didn't know about the tip for rope drop thank you for sharing.

I have had people in front of me turned away when they got to the touch point for not having an AP. The Mickey turned blue

I have been told and have heard CM tell other that an AP can have 2 guest with them the AP needs to go first

This is just what I have seen and heard your experience might be different

Also, you can count on passholders to know how to tap their way into the park, so even if the line is long, it moves a lot faster than regular line.

As you can see above there is NO consistent policy. I've seen it all and honestly last week .... regular lines were shorter than AP for us. At AK there had to be 12 people in the AP line while the two lines next to it were empty. If you are an AP you know you don't have to use that line so why were those people standing there?

I so wish this were true but I've seen more issues with folks trying to scan in the AP line than the regular lines. :confused3

My finger prints only work like 10% of the time so i always have to have a GR CM come so no this is not always true

My mother has the same probem. She is an AP Holder as well and we have gone into 3 parks in 1 day and if she is lucky 1 of the parks will let her in without help but not always.

I have found the AP lines have only been useful for around rope drop. Also, AK hasn't had an AP line the past few times I have been there for rope drop for some reason.

As the day goes on, AP lines won't be worth it since a lot of parks won't really have a line at the tap stiles.

I have seen guests go in with AP holders before, but I can't recall how many were with the group. I don't know if the tap stiles actually turn blue if you aren't an AP holder though.

Only used it a few times last visit, but they asked for AP card every time (didn't have sliders).

I had several non-AP with me last week. They went thru the AP line at MK (accidentally), and had no issues.

They also went thru the AP line at Epcot (deliberately), and had no issues.

Both times were in the afternoon, not at park opening. The reason at Epcot was that the line was much shorter.

THIS! I've almost never been at a gate where the passholder line was shorter or moved more smoothly than the other lines. It also has half the capacity of the other tapstile stands (why they don't just open the other 2 is beyond me)

I have seen people turned away for not having the cards even when others in their party did, but it certainly isn't consistent, as I have also gotten into AP lines where no one was even asked if they were AP holders, let alone checked to see if they had a card.

Lots of times the AP lines are as long, if not longer, but I have also lucked out and gotten in much faster using the AP lines, especially at Epcot when they are tucked to the right and people don't even notice that they are there.

I have an AP, my DH and DD do not. We always use the passholder line. I just enter first and then they come in behind me. I have never been asked to show a card or a slider. In May, the tapstyle at AK had some sort of issue. There were two people ahead of me waiting for CM assistance...one in an ECV that was blocking anyone else from entering around them. My AP did not work so I was not able to enter, but DH and DD were. Maybe it was just because everything was so backed up from the ECV....
