I really need some advice about renewing AP. We got ours in Feb 05 and at the DVC discount. We have done 3 trips to WDW this year. Now with it expiring in Feb 06, I am debating whether to renew. We have no plans to go to WDW in 2006. Should I get AP vouchers now with a DVC discount and hold them until we go back to WDW in 2007? Would you do it?

Is the DVC AP/PAP discount ending? and when? Was is for 2005 only?
I am also worried the AP prices will go up.

Thanks for your help!

If you aren't going in 2006, don't renew! I think the $$ difference between renewing and a new AP is small - about $15. You won't save anything if you renew and don't use the pass.

You certainly could buy new DVC-discounted AP vouchers now and just hold onto the vouchers until your next WDW visit.

When ticket prices go up, I doubt the % increase will be huge. I don't worry about it - I just know it will happen eventually. Just like annual dues go up every year.

Personally, I do not want my money tied up in ticket vouchers for long periods of time. I'd rather have it in the bank where I can get to it if I need to. The amount I might save by buying too far in advance isn't worth it to me. Even if the prices go up 10% (I think it is likely to be smaller), that's only about $30 per annual pass. When I think about how much the vacations cost in total, an increase in ticket prices isn't a big amount.

But everyone is different. Just make the best decision for you.

Best wishes-

Any price increase is speculation at this point, but it would not surprise me to see an increase...energy cost and insurance have increased. There was menion of the DVC AP disount continuing for 2006 at the annual meetings. Currently, for DVCers, the renewal price is about $15 less than a new AP. If your renewal period hits near or during a scheduled trip, I certainly would renew. If you don't have a trip planned near your renewal date, I'd probably not renew.

Personally, I would not buy vouchers for APs years in advance...they'd tend to get misplaced before redemption around my house.

There is NO WAY I could keep track of the vouchers until 2007! I'm in a panic just thinking about it. LOL!

The other thing I'd have to keep in mind is how APs tend to work like little Disney magnets. "Well, we have the AP. . . and this fare is REALLY LOW. . .and we could just use a few points. . ." I'm not that strong! Temptation gets me too easily. No AP until a trip is imminent for this family.

I upgraded a 3-day DL hopper to an AP when we were out there in Dec and I'm already scouting out client engagements based on who's in LA. That giant sucking sound Ross Perot talked about turned out to be Disney! Who knew??

Happy planning!
