Are the separate lines for Annual Passes still a thing? We are going Dec 24- Jan 4 this year, and I am trying to quantify whether or not it is worth it for us to get AP. With the lines at the holidays that definately would hold some worth if they are still doing it... And also, if it still is functioning, are you allowed to bring a non AP guest, ie. if I bought APs for my hubby and me is it cool to bring our kiddo's through said line or would we all need APs? Thanks:tilt:

The AP line is not always faster/shorter.
Agreed-especially when they aren’t telling people ahead of time the line is only for AP. We clearly had lots of non AP in front of us in line at AK last week. How do I know they weren’t AP? They had RIFD cards to get in that were not the AP cards. They also had a lot of trouble figuring out how to use the scanners and didn’t seem to know that there were 2 for each line and would repeatedly have to be asked to use the one further in.

Definitely this. Sometimes the AP line is faster but considering there is only 1 line for APs sometimes it can get backed up so it's quicker just to go through one of the many "regular" lines. I would say it's about 50-50. So I would 100% not base a decision to purchase APs on the fact that there are AP turnstiles.

To question your other question, in general, no you can't bring someone who doesn't have an AP with you through that line. I don't know if they'd make an exception since it's your children but I have seen people tap their bands only for the cast member to redirect them to one of the other lines because they don't have an AP.

Thanks Guys! There are 5 of us there for 11 days so and probably not going to go back this year ( possibly 2 of us will) I think breaking it down, it'll be best to just purchase one, so we can get a TW card and maybe some discounts on parties. Will just make sure we do not bring bags and go thru regular line.

I was there a couple weeks ago with a friend. I have an AP, she does not. If the AP line was shorter I would use it and told her to pick a different line. One time she followed me into the AP line by mistake. I got thru and turned around to say to her, you can't go thru this line. The CM laughed at her and let her go thru.

From my experience the AP line is usually shorter and if it's not shorter, it's usually quicker. I judge how many people are in each line as I'm coming up and if there's more than a handful of people in the AP line vs another, I'll go to the other line.

For morning entrances I usually always use the AP line and it goes very quickly. For PPO line the CM's will usually tell everyone that it is for AP's only and sometimes they want to see each person's AP card or at least the AP slider on your Magicband. After park opening, their far more lenient about bringing a guest or two with the AP holder

We were at Disney Last week and only used the AP entrance line once. The line was always as long as the other entrance lines. Didn’t seem to be a time saver.

The one morning we did use the line was rope drop at animal kingdom. The family behind us was not annual pass holders and the cm made them change lanes and wait in line again. They were not pleased, but the cm’s were holding up a sign saying the line was for pass holders and yelling it out also. They did have warning.

We were a party of 7, with 6 annual pass holders. The cm was fine with my mom joining us in the AP line. We had asked before entering the line

If it doesn't otherwise make sense for you to buy Annual Passes, I wouldn't buy them just to be able to use the AP lines to enter the parks. Its not that much of a big perk, it might save you 1 or 2 minutes at most. It's not AP express lines for rides, just to go thru the park entrance.

We have used the AP line a couple of times but it can take you longer to walk over to the AP line than you would wait in a regular line depending on where you approach the tapstiles.

The AP lines are more of an advertising and marketing tool for Disney than a benefit.
