AP expiring during August trip - Can I still book FP?

Hello!
Tomorrow is my 60 days for booking FP for our August trip - I tried calling Disney with this question but got stuck in a loop with the automated system!

My question is, will I be able to book my FP for all the days of my trip (August 3-9) even though my AP expires on August 5? I do plan on renewing it but apparently you can only renew up to 60 days before expiration date, so when I tried to do it online today, I received the message that our passes are ineligible for renewal at this time.

Thanks for any insight, I'm freaking out since tomorrow is FP day!

This happened to us recently. I wish Disney would fix this timing overlap issue because it’s not particularly friendly for AP holders.

[Edited to avoid mis-information]

Copying @hiroMYhero in case I’ve missed anything, but that’s my understanding of the situation when you have an AP that expires half-way through your window like that.

Good luck - if you can, come back and let us know how it goes.

Wow, thanks for the quick response! I finally got through to a CM and they just told me my only option was to buy a 4-day ticket and then upgrade it to the AP renewal once I'm within 60 days, what a headache! I will call them again and try to get the FP Planning Key Card, thanks!

The only question @GADisneyDad14 is if the FP Key Planning Card was added to book for the CL Extras and not for a regular FP day?

What has been advised for AP holders with expiring APs is to add in a multiday ticket to complete their FP booking and upon arrival at WDW, use the linked multiday towards the AP renewal cost.

The FP Key Planning Card has only been a modification for CL Extras and for DSprings hotel - ticket packages to open up the ability to book.

Edit, go with what @hiroMYhero says above - she knows this stuff better than I do. :-)

Ahh, yes, I knew I must have overlooked something. My specific example above was in fact related to booking that CL trial program FPs.

Thanks for all the helpful info! I just got off the phone with a seemingly knowledgable CM who said that the FP key is not for use in my situation - I explained my predicament but she said the best bet is to buy the 4-day ticket and then upgrade when we get there. Kind of annoying but hopefully it will be worth it! Thanks again!

Thanks for reporting back. Good luck with booking your FPs!

I’m going to edit my post above to avoid mis-information.

With tickets purchased through your MDX account and then upgrading to renew at any Guest Relations, hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Disney needs to adjust their renewal window for APs. :)

I hope you were able to get things to work out. I had this same issue and called WDW ticketing a few days before my 60 day window, explained my issue, and was able to renew at that time.

I have seen reports from some AP guests of Disney allowing AP renewal prior to 60 days in cases of this kind.
But, I've also seen reports to the contrary from other AP guests.

Disney created this "unintended consequence" for AP holders when they designed their FP+ booking rules.
They certainly have the power to fully correct it for their most loyal fans (AP holders) once and for all, rather
than the "sometimes yes/sometimes no" SNAFU.

Thanks, I ended up having to buy a 4 day pass and will upgrade it towards my AP renewal tomorrow at 60 days. I'm bummed - I asked 2 different cast memebrs if I could renew a few days early and they refused, grr! Glad it worked out for you, tho!
