AP Expiration Date Question

We just upgraded our regular FL res tix to Pixie Dust APs. In MDE it shows the expiration date as April 12, 2024. I thought the passes were for a year from the time you validate them not date of purchase. Was I given wrong info? We aren't traveling to WDW until July and I was told our year would start when we go to guest relations and validate our vouchers. Can can anyone clarify please?

You have one year to activate by entering a park, then one year of admission. Disney does weird things with placeholder dates. They can’t know on which date you will activate, plus they have changed to a one year to activate, so that is the date they use as a placeholder.

ahhhh that makes sense! Thank you for helping clear that up. I got nervous that I messed up purchasing them this early haha

You’re fine. I got panicked as I changed a NE ticket for my daughter and a Dec 31, 2030 expiry date showed up. Yikes! After checking I was told about the placeholder date function. Additionally, it is listed as a NE ticket.

Also, DH and I have PD APs. (Love ‘em.) We've been renewing the last year or two but went through the voucher/activated pass thing. Actually DH and I have different expiration dates as I did a solo trip and activated my pass before him. This is one thing Disney will get right.

oh wow! yeah they definitely know how to make us panic haha Glad to hear all is good with the passes! I was debating the PD or higher but I figure this is good for now and we can always upgrade (I hope) if needed,

You can upgrade at your renewal time. Or you may be able to upgrade mid-term as long as new APs are being sold. If AP sales get suspended again your only option may be to stick with the PD until time to renew it next year.

Oh ok! Thanks for the info!!
