AP exchange not at the parks

I asked a bunch of questions about Annual Passes earlier.. thank you all.

Another question.

We want to exchange certificates for the Annual Passes the day we come to town. We will not be going to the parks that day. Where can we do this without the hassle of going to the parks? Is the easiest place the Ticket and Transportation Center? Can we do this at Disney Springs? Can we purchase Magic Bands at either of these places and have them connected to our APs and MDE accounts?

You can activate the APs at guest relations (there are GR locations outside every park and at Disney Springs), you can also activate them at any ticket window outside the parks. You can purchase Magic Bands at World of Disney at Disney Springs or at any park/resort, they can be linked to your account either by the CM where you purchase or yourself in MDE.

No. You'll get the option to customize bands and have them sent to you after you return from your trip. If you want bands for this first trip, you'll have to buy them.

The vouchers can be exchanged for Annual Passes at any Guest Relations location outside of a park or in Disney Springs. Your Annual Pass will expire one year from the day you exchange the certificates even if you do not go into a park that day.

Great. Do you know if they give Annual Passholders a grey band when we exchange the certs?

Annual passholders do not get bands at the time of activation. Once you've activated your passes at the parks, you'll see an option to customize your AP Magic Bands in your MDE account -- this usually pops up a few weeks after your trip. So, no, you won't get bands for the offsite trip on which you're activating your AP. If you want to use bands, you'll have to bring your old ones and buy them for anyone in your family who doesn't have them. Or, you can just use the annual pass itself for park entry or FP+ reservations.

Good to know!!! I wanted to do it when we get there Saturday but maybe we will wait till Monday when we go to the parks. We have an 8:00 ADR so it'll be an early morning.
