AP Discounts

Is it difficult to get a room with an AP discount? Do they only alot a certain amount of rooms that can use it? I would hate to put the money into an AP, then to find out that I can't use the room discount! I am only looking for regular season, no weekend - any thoughts???

It's not difficult, but it certainly helps to call right when they are released so you have a better chance of getting what you want. They only release a certain amount of rooms at each hotel for the AP discount. The good thing about it, is that you don't have to purchase the AP before you reserve the room with your discount. You only need to show the AP at check-in (and sometimes not even that), so you can test the waters, seeing if you can get the room you want. If you don't, then don't buy the AP.

Thanks so much! The other other question - if anyone out there knows - can I change an existing reservation to AP when the codes come out (I am getting connecting rooms, so I want to make sure I reserve early).

You most certainly can - DH and I just switched to a AAA rate and just rebenewed our AP passes. We are anxiously awaiting any news on value season AP rates and will call to apply an new rate. Good luck

just called today. Added 3 nights at AKL pool biew to the beginning of my trip. AP rate was 234 per night.....better update my countdown!

yes, you can.

But, you should know that connecting rooms aren't guaranteed so reserving early won't help you there There are VERY VERY few cases where Disney will guarantee that rooms connect....but they will certainly try their best to do it for you. They don't assign rooms until a few days before you arrive (and even then it's subject to change!) so reserving one month out or 12 months out won't make much of a difference.
