Just got my AP exchange certificate last week. Of course I've been logged on the the WDW passholder website checking out discounts on rooms. We are planning to go in June, is there usually (I know there's no way to know for sure) any discounts for June. How far in advance are discounts posted? We usually go in late May/early June and are used to booking a package right arouhnd the first of the year. I guess I'm just getting antsy to start plannning.

I got an AP discount for Pop in June 2008 and I think it came out in late April. You can never tell what is going to come out or when. I was surprised at the time some of the discounts came out this year in comparison to last year.

Check out this link from Mousesavers for historical listing of discounts.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and was a little surprised at how late the discounts came out. I am used to planning months in advance, not spur of the moment. What do all of you do? Should we book a room in advance and change it later or chill until a few weeks before we leave and hope for a discount. :confused3

If you KNOW you're going, book to make sure you get the room you want. Then switch over the available code if one comes out. Although, depending on availability, you may need to adjust your room or even resort.

If going is dependent upon getting a code, wait until one comes out.

You can plan all you want either way.

We're going in June 2009 and have APs. We are currently booked under the 4/3 deal (any deal is better than no deal) with one day base tickets. We'll hang onto those base tickets until we need to re-purchase our APs (use them to upgrade). Actually, “the baby” just turned three after our last trip so he’ll be needing a ticket. My bottom line is still over $1000 less than rack rate. If a good room only rate comes out though that will save us money (Oct 2008 package rate was cheaper than the AP room only rate, even having to buy one-day base tickets), I'll switch my code.

That is good advice. We are going whether we get a code or not. We were wanting to do a split stay anyway, 5-6 nights at POP and 3-4 at a deluxe. I will probably go ahead and book POP and just hold out for some AP discounts before we book the deluxe.

The 4/3 deal doesn't work well for us because we like to stay for 9 nights.

I usually book with a AAA room only discount, then hange it IF the AP discount is better, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.
