Anyone care to reason why WDW AP's get a $100 DVC discount, but Disneyland AP's only get a $20 discount?

Seems like people who live in Florida have a much better reason to be a DVC member. If you get an annual pass for 30 years, that's $3,000 in savings. While someone in California realizes only $600 in savings with their much smaller $20 discount.

After the DVC discount, in fact, WDW AP holders pay $399 for an AP that is valid 365 days a year. But Disneyland people have to pay $419 after discount for an AP that is also valid 365 days a year. And those of us in California only have two theme parks. :(

Those who live in CA also have a variety of better options for APs than those in FL. If you live in CA you can get a different resident pass instead of and DVC AP.

not really. If you want a cheaper pass you have lots of blackout dates to deal with and you lose free parking. $299 gets you 60 blackout dates and no parking, and the socal only passes are really weekday only passes with all summer blacked out.... they're never valid on Saturdays and most Sundays.

Apples to apples is a Disneyland premium pass vs. a Disney World regular pass.

From what I learned by reading these boards is that DVC has to negotiate these discounts. And since DVC is so new and tiny in the west coast they might not have enough "power" to negotiate good discounts yet.

Again just to reiterate what's been said in other similar threads, DVC discounts are part of the perks of being a member. Which could be taken away at any time. So there's no guarantee that next year the WDW AP discount will still be around. You just never know.

Only for Southern CA residents in certain zip codes. And like the previous poster mentioned, they are extremely limited in scope.

I'm okay with it. I think Disneyland is worth more than WDW. There's nothing else like Walt's original park anywhere.

DL is nice but WDW had the space the Walt wished he had for DL. DL is just 2 parks and basically two hotel options. WDW is four parks, two waterparks, golf, etc. The DL AP discount is proportionate.
