AP Discount Question

DH and I have had an AP for all our past trips. We did not renew this last time because we are expecting a DD. We will be taking our first trip with her and want to purchase another AP. If we are lucky enough to secure an AP rate for our hotel, is it OK to purchase our AP when we get there. I have never been asked to show my AP at check in, but have always been prepared. How does that work?

Hi BelleNJ-

You didn't say what mode of transportation you'd be using to get to WDW.
The only places to get an AP before you get to your hotel is at Guest Services. This can be done at any of the parks that are open when you arrive, or at DTD.
If you're flying in, the DS in the airport concourse at MCO would be able to sell you one also.
Of course it can't be guaranteed that you will be asked to show your AP upon check-in, but you might not want to play 'beat the odds', either.

We were in the same boat. We had purchased our AP's at the local DS. We wanted to check-in prior to activating the passes the next day.
We took a chance and they did not ask for our AP's at check-in at ASMo in January. (We had used the AP room rate discount.)
Also, in January '01, at check-in, we used the DC discount rate. We were never asked to show our DC card either.

I agree with the previous posters to purchase your AP's just before you go at your Disney Store. If you are AAA members some AAA offices also sell AP's for a discount. I think you can also purchase them on line and by calling CRO. Just as a reference, my confirmation sheet for this summer's WLV reservation states "Eligble annual/seasonal pass required at check-in."

Now, I would also like to state that I have never had to show my AP to check into a resort, I have never had to show FL ID to check into a resort, and I have never had to show my room card to get onto a Disney bus. Oh well, at least I am prepared.
