How do I get the AP discount on a room? Or how do I get the price to reflect the AP discount? Do I enter a number when booking on line? Is it a standard rate for deluxe v. moderate?
It's not automatic that you get a discount. You have to book when AP Discounts are offered and there will only be so many rooms available at that rate.
If you already have a room, then call and see if there are any AP Discounts available for your particular room. There may be offers, but not for your room ... you might have to change rooms or resorts to get the discount.
If you don't have a room, then log in to MDE, look at Places to Stay and then on right Special Offers. Open that and make sure you are logged and it tells you that you are able to see Passholder specials. Link will be listed. Right now there are two, one for spring dates and one for summer.
AP discounts also usually come out closer to the trip date, so you have to be on the lookout. As with all discounts these days availability is limited, and can sometimes be only for the more expensive room types for a resort.
Yes, you can book an AP room discount before activating the AP.
Theoretically, you should be able to view AP discounts online, but in practice, some people have more success than others. And it's not just people with AP vouchers---people with active APs have reported the same issues. Good ol' Disney IT! If you're not able to see the info online, you can always call.
They key is to make sure you’re logged in when you’re looking. I’ve thought I was logged in and wasn’t a few times so the AP discount didn’t show up. It will clearly show the AP rate when you’re looking.
