AP Discount on Regular Tickets

If I buy an AP pass now through the Universal website can I purchase regular tickets at a discount right away through their website or do i have to purchase those tickets directly at the parks? I am going in July and my friends are going in June, wanted to know if i could get them tickets at a discount. Thanks.

AP tickets need to be purchased at the gates.

Why would you be able to buy the AP on Universal's website if it had to be purchased at the gate? Are you saying that the other tickets must be purchased at the gate?

The APs themselves can be purchased online and activated at the gate. The additional tickets you're asking about have to be purchased at the gate. Understand?
