AP Discount GCH March 30-April 2

Hello everyone,

We are heading to Southern California for a mandatory medical procedure and hoping to squeeze in a quick Disney trip beforehand to treat ourselves and keep our minds off medical stuff. Unfortunately our dates are non movable so we have to go smack dab in the middle of expensive spring break season. *Sigh* oh well. I'm hoping that one of you lovely AP holders would be willing to check my dates GCH theme park view March 30-April 2 since I'm considering getting an AP if there is any sort of discount during my dates. Thank you so much in advance!

Hi, I just checked for you and unfortunately it is premium rates ! DLH is $435 for Friday and Saturday and $392 for Sunday. GCH is $482 for all 3 nights. I guess spring break is still in full swing then!

Yikes! Thanks for checking. When you say premium rates does that mean they are the same as rack rates? It seems that there is still some sort of AP discount b/c I just checked disneyland.com and a GCH theme park view is 690 per night...duckwife would you mind checking if I'm right?

I think there is a 10% discount off rack rates or something like that but that particular weekend is the most expensive of the month, that is why I said premium! Maybe you could get a nice room at a nearby hotel

Ouch indeed. May just bite the bullet and get and AP since $482 for theme park view is definitely better than $690. We really need a treat due to medical issues and will not be able to walk long distances also due to medical issues so really need the GCH. Will prolly end up spending a lot of time in the room so that is why I was wanting to splurge on a theme park view. Thank you so much for your help! If I buy the AP in advance can I use it to book the room but wondering if the clock starts when I book the room or is it activated on our first day in the park irregardless of when I purchase AP or book room?

Your AP won't be active until you visit the parks the first day. You can book a hotel at an AP rate over the phone, you just have to have an AP when you get there. Just tell them you plan on purchasing an AP before your stay. No problems

I have to apologize because I didn't see the theme park view request in your OP. A theme park view at GCH for those dates is $536. Sorry!

I believe that you can book the AP rate but not activate your AP until you get there.

Thanks to you both! Where is the easiest spot to purchase AP once I get there? I'm guessing I have to pick it up before I check in or do I just have to get it before I pay my bill? I was hoping I could check in (arriving in the morning) then go get AP while I'm waiting for room to be ready. Is this possible?

We stayed at DLH in December using the AP rate. We didn't have to show them the AP on arrival, but did have to show them before we left. I bought the AP online, but didn't get the actual ticket until after we checked in.

your AP is not active until you activate it, you can purchase it online and activate it on your first day. To activate a voucher you simply go to the gates, then you find a photopass photographer to have your photo linked to your AP.
