AP discount for room - is this possible

We plan to buy AP for our trip for December that I am about to book. (We plan to also go in March for a conference so it will be worth it). If I buy my pass now and add the Voucher number in MDE, even if it is not active can I get an AP discount for the room if one is available?
THis will be our first time doing Annual Passes....

You can get the discount, yes, when one becomes available. You don't get the discount, though, by adding the voucher number. In fact, I am a passholder but have not yet picked up/activated my AP (will be doing that in 2 weeks!) but was still able to get the passholder rate for our upcoming trip.

You get the discount either by booking a room at the time the discounted passholder rate is available or by booking a room before the discount is available and later, once the discount is released, calling Disney and adding it. You will need to keep an eye out for it and call ASAP once the discount is released as availability is limited.

If it's not showing up, you might need to click on "filters" and select "passholder discounts".

You can also check when historical discounts have been released so you have a better sense of when to check for one for your dates.

I also forgot to add, I'll probably have to show my AP before we check out from our resort so that we get to keep the passholder rate and aren't charged the difference. Just a guess. I'm a new passholder.

Last year, AP room only discounts covering 11/6/16-12/23/16 were released 8/23/16.

I would reiterate what PPs have said about the availability of any given AP discount being limited. You just never know what availability is going to be like and sometimes you have to be a bit flexible.

FWIW - They're supposed to ask for your AP card at check-in, but honestly I've never been asked to show mine. Most folks report the same. But I'd be ready to go to guest services sometime that day to activate yours just in case, then come back and show it if needed.

I've been a passholder for 4 years, the AP discount has only been better than the general discount about 2 or 3 times for me (I go 2 or 3 times a year) and I've never had to show my AP when checking in.
