AP discount before AP activated?

We're buying an annual pass for our April 2006 trip to BCV. We plan to stay in another resort (probably POFQ) for the first 2 nights of our trip and we're hoping to get an AP discount. I called CRO and was told we couldn't get a discount if our pass isn't activated when we make the reservation. Does that sound right? I was hoping we could get the discount, activate the AP upon arrival, and then show the activated AP at check-in. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you!!

you can get the discount thru the AP website with the voucher number. just use it to sign in, if you have problems, mousesavers has tips on how to sign in with the voucher number.

Not sure if the policy has changed, but last May I booked a room (over the phone) with an AP rate before I bought the pass. We were planning on buying the passes upon arrival and the CM told me that I would just need to show the pass upon check-in or the rate wouldn't be vaild. On a side note, we checked in and still hadn't bought the pass yet since we were planning on getting it the next morning at the park. When the CM checking us in asked to see our AP, we told him we were buying it tomorrow, he said "I'll just trust you and give you the AP rate." Doubt that would ever work again though...

My reservation is already booked and my AP isn't activated.

When you get your pass, it will have your pass numbers on the back. Go to disneyworld.com/passholders and enter those numbers there. Once you log in with your unactivated AP you can reserve a room under Passholders Best Rate program. That's how I did it for our trip in December. I live in North Georgia and there is no way I could activate my pass before that, or want to for that matter!!! Hope this helps you!!!

You have to have the annual pass or voucher in hand before you can book the reservation. You can no longer book an AP reservation without having the ap first. It doesn't active until the first day you use it.
