AP Dining Pins?

I could always trade the duplicates away to the cast members, right?

Sure, it's yours to do with as you please and CM must trade with guests as long as they do not already have that pin on their lanyard.

is it at all sit down meals in both parks? What about hotels?

In the parks, yes. Hotels, not sure, we rarly eat at the hotels. The pins are also availible in at least some of the counter service places as well. I've gotten then at Pacific Wharf Cafe, Redd Rockets and Riverbelle Terrace. If they have them there should be a sign by the registers.

Yes to the hotels as well. I got one at Goofy's Kitchen. I assume it's available at the main hotel sit down restaurants.

From the AP Fall newsletter:

I heard it was 1 pin for each $30 you spend. So if you spend $60 you get 2. But I don't know if that's a fact...

It is a fact... We just got 2 for a purchase of 70.00+ at BB. I did ask in advance for them though. When they run out of the pin they are out. We usually get one or two of each pin when they come out. They are fun to collect but we dont do much with this other than put them in a safe place....

Dang it! I didn't know about this and we ate at BB and Carnation Cafe. Oh well, next time :)

Thank you for that ADisneyPrincess! I haven't gotten my AP newsletter yet, but anywho, I need to write those down...

Thanks again!

So I hate to tell you this, but they are very likely already gone or about to be gone. Everyone knows about them now, and they go fast.

But for info, I have been able to look to disneypins.com. They do NOT have the info on this recent offering (by searching for "dining" or using the dropdowns or searching for All Pins from new release date to old). So it might not be useful anymore.

Note that they go by the price AFTER the discount! And ask BEFORE you order, so you're not anticipating the pins or ordering more than you want to get you to a certain level (for instance if we had ordered a dessert, we could have gotten to 3 pins at BB) and then find out after the fact that they don't have any.

If you only want one, just don't take the extra(s). Leave the ones you don't want for people who DO want them! :)

And lastly, if you don't want a pin (or if you get multiples but only want one) but you decided to take it, wear it. From hubby's experience in December, there are guests roaming around, looking for them once they are gone, swooping in to trade for them. Hubby is happy what he traded his last September pin (released on the 16th, we got it on the 18th) for (I don't trade, I collect) but it was *after* that that we found out they were already out of the new in November one (released on the 4th, gone by December 6th or so) and he was disappointed he had gotten rid of it.

I think I'm hearing that they'll probably be gone before I arrive in mid November.

Seeing that we'll get the AP there... so I'm not a subscriber of the newsletter, what other benefits should I know about?

If they are continuing their pins (they skipped a quarter this year so I'm not sure if they'll release another) they might actually have a brand new one in November. So all might not be lost, AP Dining Pin-wise. :)

Here is the public info page about APs. They will also give you info when you get your AP. Not every restaurant gives the AP discount, but most of them do. The discounts generally (but not always) require a $10+ purchase to get the discount. But it's best to ask every time you buy food, just in case. :)

Once you get the APs, do sign up online! From the info online I found out about the POTC 3 release special last Nov/Dec for AP holders. They had a special thing at Disneyland on the release day, where AP holders got the 2 disc edition and a special matted print including a commemorative coin and a piece of the sailcloth from the Asian ship in the movie. AP holders could order that online. So I did. And we got the movie, while hubby got the matted print with the sailcloth and coin for Yule. And we were all happy. :)

There are also things like discounts on baseball games; it changes often!

You are so very welcome!!! We leave the 10th, so I'll let you know!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

YAY!!!!! Thank You for checking for me. :) I appreciate it, if they are gone I'll be sad but that will still be OK. You're the coolest!! :goodvibes

Yes, you get 1 for every $30 you spend. :)

Yes, as long as the CM doesn't already have it on their lanyard but these make very good traders so you might want to see if you can get something from a "regular" trader instead of giving it to a CM...or you could give it to me! LOL :)

We are from the east coast, so we'll only be making one trip. Getting the AP for the food discounts and because we'll be there for a few days. So I won't be able to sign up online. I'm so curious what is hidden in the "member's only" section lol.

You can still sign up, you'll have access for that full year. :) Might as well do it!

Why wouldn't you? Then you'll find out what's hidden! (note: not that big a deal except for the POTC3 thing I mentioned before)

I'm in WA and we got DLR APs for '07/08, and I'm considering getting an AP for WDW, once we plan a trip, if just for me. I've already done one quick solo trip to DLR and will have another in November, so I can totally imagine running out to WDW if I could get a terrific fare and I had an AP. :goodvibes

That said, make really really sure that AP will be worth it. If you have a small family and especially if you aren't big eaters, it might not be worth it. With 4 visits (me...3 visits by hubby and son) we still haven't "made up" for the extra cost of the AP in discounts. And if you're wanting souvenir discounts then you need the Premium, which is over $100 more and you would REALLY have to do some serious shopping to make up that cost!
