AP Dining Package and AP Discount...

I am curious if you have booked one of the new AP Dining packages and have also been able to add an AP discount to that package. I am kind of assuming it technically could be done since there are AAA discounted packages with dining.

Has anyone gotten both?

I'm going to WDW May 3rd-10th and was able to use my AP to get both a discount on the room, then later added the DxDDP, keeping my room discount. Is that what you're asking? Adding the DDP turns it from a room only ressie to a pkg. Meaning that it is now subject to all the restrictions of a pkg (must be paid in full by 45 days out and must pay a penalty if any changes are made). The CM also tried to add insurance to the pkg and I had to tell him to take it off.

If you are asking about using an AP for a room discount and then adding free dining. That is not allowed. I'm also going back in Sept for free dining and had to pay rack rate for the room in order to get the dining for free. However, if AP room discounts happen to be a better deal for that time, I could always cancel my current pkg, take advantage of the AP room discount, then pay for the DDP. With three people in the room, I doubt the AP room discount could beat free dining.

I know that free dining won't work on the AP dining package. It is an "upgrade" from the MYW packages and requires the purchase of a base ticket.
My question was indeed whether or not anyone had been successful in using both the AP discount and the AP dining package. It seems as if you were! Thanks so much.

We've got reservations from 5/13-5/19 with an AP room only reservation. I've called twice and both CMs told me that I could add the AP dining at anytime as long as it was at least 5 days prior to arrival. I asked specifically if there were a limited number of DPs for AP holders at any given time and they said no, that the AP room rates are limited but that DP can be added up until the 5 days prior mark no limits on how many are available or anything like that.

So if I am understanding correctly, even if you've passed the 45 day mark within your trip you can still add the dining and at that point the full balance is due?

This is correct! I was just discussing this with my TA today. I am not sure if I want to add the DP to our Aug. reservations or not & she said I can add it whenever. But if it is after the 45 day mark, total balance is due then.
