If it's going to be too much trouble to try and activate it before check-in, I wouldn't worry about it. Worse case scenario would be that they would ask you to come back to the front desk sometime within your stay to show them your activated AP. I mean really, how many people would spend the money to get an AP voucher and not activate it just to get AP rates every time they go! :rotfl:

My AP's have not necessarily been activated when I've checked in and it's never been a problem. I didn't even have to come back to show them the activated pass, but I know that Disney is starting to really watch AP discounts to make sure they are being used appropriately.

I had my voucher when I checked in 2 weeks ago, and they didn't even ask to see it. I'm sure as long as you have your voucher, you would be fine. :flower:

The policy on this varies from resort to resort, CM to CM, and phases of the moon.

Many CMs don't even ask to see your AP when you check in on an AP rate.

Most ask to see it, and accept the voucher or the active AP.

A few, a very few, CMs will ask to see your AP and won't accept the voucher. This is an individual thing, not a blanket policy. If this happens to you, don't argue, and don't get angry, just ask to see a manager and politely explain that an AP voucher is completely non-refundable, so it is concrete proof that you are a WDW AP holder and the voucher should be accepted as proof that you qualify for the AP rate you booked.

We stayed in AKL in February and checked in with a printout of the confirmation email we got when we did our APs. Now, this was not a newly purchased Annual Pass but our renewal of our annual pass -- but they didn't ask to see the old pass or anything just the confirmation. They did ask to see it though.

I was so worried about this a few weeks ago, I went to the Disney store at MCO when we arrived to get an active AP as opposed to a voucher. When I went to check in I realized they never even asked for it - all that worrying for nothing. I agree with the other poster. If they give you a hard time, just ask for a manager - no big deal.
