AP Blockout Questions

I convinced DH to do a quick trip to DLR next month so we can see the Christmas decorations. We only have Deluxe passes so we will have to pay for our tickets.

Will our AP discounts still apply in the parks since we are blocked out? Also, are you allowed to purchase AP exclusive items like the Sip and Savor pass for Festival of Holidays? I was thinking of getting one and splitting it between us for snacks, but obviously that won't work if we can't purchase one!

Yes. Just show your AP. They don’t know what media you used to get in the park.

I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't. Here's why: In September, we went and had Deluxe AP cards we purchased from the Disney Store. We went straight to the gate with those and didn't get our official APs until mid-day. My friends (who have one of the higher level APs - Signature, maybe?) met us in the park. There was some sort of issue with their credit card for their monthly payment plan and they were given something to show at the gate to get in (it was a Sunday and they couldn't fix the issue because the offices were closed). I wanted to purchase an AP popcorn bucket and they wouldn't let me with the temporary card - they also wouldn't let my friend purchase it because her AP wasn't showing as active that day. I don't know whether it was because it wasn't scanned into the park (like is the case with FPs), or if it was just the issue with their payment plan, but they could definitely tell that her AP wasn't allowed to be used to buy AP popcorn that day.

I would contact Annual Passholders Guest Services and inquire about whether you can use your AP discount on blockout days and whether you can purchase AP exclusive merchandise on blockout days. I would make it very clear that you're asking about both (I'd almost be tempted to ask them as two separate questions). I would guess you can get your AP discount on blockout days because there will be some guests that go shopping in DTD on blockout days and you don't need your AP to get into DTD. On the other hand, in order to buy the AP merchandise, you usually have to enter a park (like starshine514's example). So I could see where there might be a difference between AP discounts and AP merchandise on blockout days (rather like those APs that include parking are not eligible for parking benefit on blockout days).

I used my AP for purchase discounts when I went in July when I was blocked out (a CM signed me in). No issues whatsoever.
