If you buy an AP at the booths, is it active then, or does it become activated when you use it?

I want my pass activated on a Tuesday. If I buy my pass that Monday night at the booths but don't go into the parks, is it activated when I buy it or the next morning when I use it?

It will be active on Monday night. You can either buy an AP voucher online and take it to the gate on Tuesday, or buy a 1 day, 1 park ticket at the booth Monday night, use it Tuesday morning, then upgrade later on Tuesday.

Darn.

I am wanting a premium pass, so I could use the parking on our first day. When attempting to buy the vouchers online, though, I cannot find a spot to enter a gift card. Am I missing something?

They'll refund your parking.

I'm going to call tomorrow on this as I was going to pay for our APs with the DVA and that is essentially a large Disney gift card, it is entered in the gc spot. I just made a dummy cart with an ap in it to see and there is no spot for the gift card.

This was the case for me in Dec too. No place to enter gift cards online. I called and the CM was not sure why that was not an option and if I ordered with her over the phone, there was a fee.

I ended up buying our PAP from the booths when we got there.

I called Disney today and was assured that if you buy the AP's at the gate, they are not active until you enter the park for the first time. I gave her the scenario of going to pick them up tomorrow, and not going into the parks until March, and she said that they would expire March 2016.

She said it is on the website, and this is the official policy. As long as it is not an upgrade on a used ticket, the pass is 'dormant' until activated at the park turnstiles, kind of like the vouchers that are available from third party vendors.

I'm probably going to drive to Disneyland in the morning (335 mi one way!) to buy the passes and go for the day with a comp ticket that expires soon. I'm banking on the prices increasing before we take our trip in March (looking increasingly likely), and now that they don't allow gift cards to buy passes online, I need to go to the booth. Combine this with the lower gas prices, and it will be a savings of $200-$400 depending on the increase, plus I am going to the parks tomorrow.

Am I safe to assume I can purchase annual passes for people who are not present at the booths? I will be going by myself.

I know for DH and I it required us to show our photo ID and be present together , but unsure about anyone under that age.

I'd call a second time and make sure you get the same answer. And you should confirm this at the booth, because before they switched to evergreen APs the expiration was printed and the APs were active. I know when you do the payment plan you sign a contract with the expiration date. It's been awhile since I paid in full, so I don't remember if there's anything to sign. If there's a dated contract then you may not be able to buy for others and it may affect the expiration date. Is there a Disney store closer than 335 miles that you can call to see if they have APs? Then you'd have a voucher and you could use gift cards.

As far as I've been told, if you purchase at the main gate the passes are activated that day.

All adults have to be present and show photo ID. My kids did not have to show photo ID so I would think they wouldn't need to be there when the passes are purchased.
