Does Disney add AP to your room key? How big is the voucher?

Thanks

AP's are separate from room keys. Since you can use AP's any number of times during a year, and room keys are limited to however many days you are staying on property, the two cannot be combined.

I can't answer your voucher question. We bought our AP's directly from WDW by upgrading MYW tickets.

I can't tell you anything about vouchers.

They CAN add your AP to your room key.. At the end of your trip you can leave it on the old room key or have it swiped off to a traditional AP card which you can store and save.

Since you are 'in the computer' for the annual pass, they can reissue it if either your mag stripe goes bad anyway.. so I'd just do whatever's convenient.

Personally, I like the room and tickets on the one key. Never any problems.

Others haven't been so lucky.

Anyway.. the point of the story is .. you CAN have your AP put on your room key. People do it all the time.

Cool! Obviously I didn't know that! I'm a first-time AP holder, so I guess there's still a lot for me to learn. Thanks for the info!

I thought Ap were in the form of Vouchers. I am upgrading tickets already purchased for APs. I have a child and think it would be so much easier to have tickets, charging and room key combined!

I have ordered MVMCP tickets for Dec 18th using APs that I haven't got yet. CM told me this was all right. They called it " Will Call" ? Gave me a reference number and said to pick up at ????

Thanks Again, This is our first time onsite!!!

this is a little off topic, but i was curious, Does anyone think an annul pass is worth purchasing if you visit once or twice a year? would it be better idea to just buy the tickets each trip?

It would depend on how many days you will be in the parks. In our case. We will be in Disney 19 days for our Christmas trip. Then we are going back Halloween for a couple of week. So we will have used many days!

Also it came be a benefit if you can get a room discount to boot!

Our Annual passes are going to cost us very little money. We got two 7 day hoppers with water park options plus and expiration tickets via airmiles. For approximately 35.00 plus tax, we can upgrade to APs!

Isn't the break-even point around a 10-day park ticket?

I order my AP every year from my Ma. home. they expire in June of every year but we do not go to our Fla.home until August. I receive a lime green voucher in the mail that is about the size of a credit card. When we get to Disney we go to guest services and then get the actual pass from them.

So when we purchase our APs on site in August - will we get an actual card like the Keys to the Kingdom card?

You would think so but no, you get a flimsy paper card. OK, it is stronger than paper but not nearly as durable as the KKC. If it gets wet from say SM or KRR it falls apart and then it's off to guest services for a new one!

I have always found that funny. APs are paper ...even the vouchers they send you are hard plastic like the key to the kingdom. Not the AP or any other long term card. My parents have the fla. resident pay to play card with no exp. but its paper. Go figure.

I must take issue with you on this. People don't do it all the time.

It is true that it is possible from a technical standpoint to transfer an AP to a KTTW by swiping it on. It may be possible and it may be done by some CMs but it's a clear violation of policy, and a pretty bad idea to boot. All Annual Passes (including Seasonal), Convention Passes, and Florida Resident Passes are not allowed to be put on the KTTW card and every resort CM that works with ticketing knows this. However, that doesn't seem to stop some of the "hey, look what I discovered I can do" CMs.

KTTW media are likely to erase or become unreadable at some point. As APs aren't supposed to be on them, some hard nosed Guest Relations CMs may refuse to rescue your AP, explaining that such an entitlement cannot be placed on the KTTW. And Guest Relations is the only place you could have the AP removed to a paper ticket since the resorts cannot do it.

Bottom line is your AP will be a separate paper ticket. That's a management decision, not a CMs. It is for your benefit. The idea that a plastic card is more durable and will hold up better over the course of a year is a fallacy. The card may survive but it's magnetic strip isn't likely to.

Just wanted to set the record straight. :)

All I know is that the CM that waited on us at the DTD Guest Services location *would not* put the AP on our room key. It actually turned into a big fiasco for us because we were upgrading from 1day base tickets to APs and they insisted that they had to keep the room key, therefore we had to stand in line a second time at our resort (POP) and it took about an hour to make it to the counter. When I told the resort CM that all we needed were new room keys you would have thought we were trying to rob a bank. Three different people came out and told me GS should not have kept our room keys. All I could do was say: "Then please take that up with them, because they did and now I need a way to get into my room!".

I'm sure the system is complicated and not everyone follows the correct procedure, but we had been up that morning since 4am PST and I was really about to blow a gasket. After about ten minutes of the three of them conversing privately, they finally gave me the new keys. I guess they thought I was trying to scam the system in some way (which was even more offensive to me, but I know there are a lot of people that do things like that on a daily basis).

Ihave to say, the de-magnetizing thing happens all the time to my sister with her APs. Last year on four seperate occasions in a two week time frame her APs did not work. She tried all the suggestions (not near cell phones and such) but it still occurred. We told her it was becuaue she had such a magnetic personality herself- that it must have have been her energy that was de-magnetizing her APs. Not so funny when you are alone with your 5 kids trying to enter a park and the tickets wont work. So...I guess paper tickets can be just as bad as plastic ones.
