AP activation question

I’m sure this must have been covered before but I wasn’t able to find it so I apologize in advance

Purchasing an AP for our upcoming trip and arriving late so want to activate the next morning. Can I buy online and go straight through the gates with my paper copy and pick up my hard pass later at the ticket booths or do I need to activate at the ticket booths first? Should I first activate the paper copy in the app the morning of so it’s a simple scan and photo?

I've read that posters have purchased online, then gone straight to the gates with the voucher (printed or on their phone). You should receive a paper card/ticket that you will need to take to the booths later that day.
