When I google map this route, it says that driving a car = 10 minutes (and uber/lyft confirms 10 minutes) -
but when I click on "bus" -- it ups it to 48 minutes. Is it really that big of a difference? Doesn't seem worth it to take the bus back to the resort for that afternoon nap and come back for the evening (??)

I did it last year and it wasn’t 48 minutes. It was somewhere around 20. Not bad at all. The biggest plus of AofA is obviously the skyline for EP and HS.

Did you click the "details" for information on the route? If so, you would realize how bad google maps is trying to figure out WDW bus transportation. It is not accurate. It adds additional "walking" times that are not necessary.

If you want to know drive times, just do as a car. The drive times for buses should be very similar. There might be a 2-5 minute difference due to the routes the buses have to take to load/unload, but that is it. The only additional piece that you have to remember is that you need to allow wait time for a bus to show up. Pre-Covid, this was about 20-25 minutes between buses.

From the time you leave the park until in your room can be close to 50 minutes. Not typical, but it can happen.

I'm looking at Google maps right now Wednesday July15 1:20PM. It says the bus time travel is 27 minutes. And it's showing you must walk over to POP Century to get the bus there. 10 minutes to walk from AoA to POP - 13 minutes on the bus - 3 minute walk from bus to AK

This is very helpful, thank you
I'm not sure I understand why an AK bus doesn't go to AofA... is it due to re-opening/covid? or is this all the time?

The bus does go AoA, which is why we are saying to not use google maps for WDW bus information. If you need times for how long a drive is from place to place, just do it as a car.

tobikaye is correct. Google maps isn't a great source for accurate travel time information.

However, I don't think AoA open now so it might be correct.

I forgot AoA was not opening for a bit. I just knew that I had seen some crazy times/discrepancies on Google Maps for WDW buses so I had not even thought about the added time being for walking from the closed resort to one that is open.

So true. Which is why wdwdancerwannabe got a 48 minute trip one day and I got 27 minute trip today. And 11 of that is the walk to POP. That 13 minutes on the bus estimate is about right, isn't it?

I believe so, because the AK bus route is slightly longer than a car route due to having to go around to another entrance for the bus stops. I think it still is about the same though since I doubt the car route includes time it might take to go through the parking booths.

Right -- the trip from the toll booths all the way out to far end of the parking lot, where you enter the parking rows, is probably longer than the route to the bus stops.
