We are regular visitors of WDW- but we've never stayed at AoA. We enjoy Pop Century but our goal this trip is to stay somewhere we have yet to stay- leading us to AoA. Our group includes:
Grandpa
Grandma
Me
Hubs
DS9
DS2

We figured Grandma and Gramps could have the room- the rest of us in the living area. Will we make each other insane? Or will the bedroom provide enough privacy? Experienced large families- help!!!

Depends on your family dynamics and what compromises you are willing to make to save money. You may want to consider two value rooms so nobody is sleeping on a pull out. If you don't care about sleeping on a pull out and not having any escape from the grandparents, it could work out fine. AoA is a really fun resort.

Every family has different tolerance levels. My in-laws would have driven me nuts if we stayed in the same room. And my own father would have lost his temper on Day#1 with that much togetherness. So for me the answer wouldn’t have been just no, it would have been “Oh hell NO!”

Have you vacationed Grandpa and Grandma before? Have you shared close quarters on those vacations? If not, then Disney is not the place to see if you’ll like it.

We've traveled together before- even to Disney with connecting rooms. We've traveled other places and stayed in condos together. But never in a suite...

We had Me, Mrs. Ally, My son and his girlfriend and my daughter with my grandtinker (3 year old). This past trip we stayed one night in the Lion King suite and 6 nights in a 2 BR villa at OKW. Don't think we would have survived for the whole trip in the Lion King Suite. Nowhere to "escape" and really the rooms are quite small. The villa at OKW gave us multiple places to escape to- Both Bedrooms, the living room, the big balcony. Just tons more room. To me, the only time the AoA suites would make sense was if it is a family of 5 or 6 or if the parents of kids just wanted to have a room of their own inside the room which I certainly understand as well.

When I see these type of posts I always think how much do you want to "see" of the other adults? Especially if there is only 1 bathroom. We are a family of 6 who travel together and usually book 2 DVC studios OR 2 value rooms. We booked a value suite once and my older kids often disrupted the 2 younger 2 when they came back from the parks late.

Not for me. I'd have to have a room separate from my ILs (or my parents, if I was traveling with them, but that would not happen). Like another person said, there is no place to get away from each other, what if they want to stay up and you want to go to bed? Sleeping in the living area wouldn't work for us.

Suites there are often more expensive than 2 rooms. Why not just do 2 little mermaid rooms.?
