AoA question: totally fictional, but what if this happened to you?

I'm dreaming a bit here but was curious of your thoughts:

I'm staying at the AoA in September for 6 nights, just me and DD (3yo). DH can't make this one. I chose AoA because my little princess is OBSESSED with Ariel, so of course I have the LM room.

We are also going with my in-laws, who are also staying at AoA but in the LK Suites. They each have families of 4.

So now my theoretical question: some people have posted that they got upgraded at check-in from LM to a Suite (usually Cars, I'm guessing because LM is so popular and fills up where as Cars doesn't). IF this happened to me, I think I would say no thanks! The only reason I booked AoA was for the LM theming. I normally stay in moderates. (if DH were coming, AoA wouldn't be allowed, he likes mods) Am I crazy? The Suites are fantastic, no doubt. And a free upgrade? Wow! But I think I would still say no.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't want the upgrade from LM to Cars either. If it were LM to Lion King or Nemo, maybe...

I also like the theming of LM rooms more than Cars, and since I don't have children and am normally traveling with only one other person, space isn't a huge concern to me.

Ya a little crazy. ;) :lmao:

The suites are MUCH closer to the main building, and nicer in general because of the extra space, so i'd definitely jump at the chance if you get a free upgrade! The LM building seems sooooooooo faaaar! :headache:

Since the Little Mermaid is a big deal to your kid, and your in-laws have suites, it doesn't seem odd to me that you would not want to accept the upgrade. Personally I'd take the upgrade just to get the space, even if it was just me. But upgrades at the desk are usually because the regular rooms are oversold...hopefully if you decline it they would have a room for you.

I have stayed at Little Mermaid and I don't consider it to be as far as everyone else seems to..maybe I just don't mind walking.

Oh, and I plan to rent a car so the LM rooms being far from the main building isn't an issue for me, since they are as close to the parking lot than the other rooms (correct me if I'm wrong).

I love LM...BUT if we were given the chance for a free upgrade, I would take it without even caring what theme we'd get because I love all the choices and so does my son :-)

Lol, I've been thinking this too. I'm going with my BFF in two weeks and our dates are sold out. We currently have LM room booked since this is her favorite Disney movie. If they ask to upgrade us to a suite, I fully plan to say no thank you. There's only two of us so space isn't an issue and we're only staying here because of the Little Mermaid.

If they can't find us a room, they'll have to do better, like maybe the Poly or YachtClub:rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl:I agree. I have no interest in the suites and if I ever stayed there it would be just because of the LM themed rooms. I have an autistic GD who is obsessed with Ariel right now. As far as getting an upgrade if your booked room is not available, don't bet on it. A few years ago, I booked a preferred room at Pop. When we got there, we were assigned a Standard room. The CM wasn't even going to mention the downgrade and when I did, said, "Oh yeah, I see you did a book a preferred room, sorry, we are overbooked and had to downgrade you to a standard. We do that pretty frequently". He kept right on checking us in, like it wasn't a big deal. Insisting on the room I actually paid for did no good and we had to sort of argue just to get the price difference refunded with him saying that would require a manager, all the managers were busy right then, and did I really want to hold up all the people checking in behind me for just that small amount of money.:furious::headache: Uh yeah. If you can't provide the room I paid for, then at least refund the price difference you owe me.
