AoA or BoardWalk?

My family has never stayed onsite nor spent more than a day or two at the parks. We are planning a week long vacation for April. I booked a LM standard room at AoA however, after looking around and pricing things, it looks like we could book a standard room at the BoardWalk Inn for around the same price.

On one hand, AoA looks amazing and I have a 9 year old and an almost 2 year old that I think would enjoy AoA (and so would the hubby and I) but the Boardwalk also looks really neat and obviously, it's a deluxe versus a value. Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks!

We are big Boardwalk lovers. The thing that attracts us the most is the ability to walk to EPCOT and DHS. We are NOT bus lovers. The other stuff we like about Boardwalk is the energy of the the Boardwalk itself especially in the evenings, the ability to walk to BC for the Marshmallow roast and movie on the beach each evening, and the Pool which has a slide. I do not think we would ever stay anywhere else.

One thing that is missing from the Boardwalk is a food court which many find to be a deal breaker. We always get a two bedroom villa with a full kitchen so that is not a big deal for us.

I will say that I find it confusing that a standard room at AoA is the same price as a Standard room at Boardwalk Inn. One is a value and the other is a deluxe??????

I would do Boardwalk, while AoA is cool it's just not worth the price that is similar to a deluxe resort. Essentially AoA is still a value resort, less transporation options, further from the parks, no sit down restraunts, and less recreation options. Awesome theming does not make up for that when the price is similar.

Im new on disboards but I have been to WDW over 10 times. We have stayed at the BWI a number of times and have loved it every time!

I would highly suggest it!

Ok that makes more sense. When you said you were trying for a standard room at Boardwalk Inn I got confused. If you are renting points you will be staying in a studio in Boardwalk Villas as opposed to standard room in the Inn. One additional note; a studio will have 1 queen size bed and a fold our sofa bed.

We rent points every year for our stay and renting points is the way to go IMO.

A standard room at BW Inn would have 2 queens and a daybed, where a studio at BW Villas has a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. Since your kids are young, they could both sleep on the sleeper sofa or your youngest could go in a pack & play provided. The studio has a kitchenette which includes a toaster, microwave, coffee maker & small fridge.

Thank you. I had read that about the rooms. My 9 year old will think the sleeper couch is awesome. She's funny like that. It is definitely worth the trade for the microwave in addition to the fridge so we can eat some lunches in the room when we go back to the room mid-day so my youngest can nap!

I don't believe the standard rooms at AoA have a microwave but the BWV studio does and I plan to put it to good use! I'm all about saving money where I can.

The Boardwalk is amazing and luxurious but great for people of all ages so I would go with Boardwalk

I have never stayed in AoA or Boardwalk but, I've heard that the pool is better at Boardwalk and there are more things to do at Boardwalk.

Any where but the boardwalk. Look into wilderness lodge if you want a deluxe. Horrible transportation at boardwalk, no where to eat inside the resort. The walk to epcot fron boardwalk could be shorter than the walk from your room at boardwalk to the lobby.
