Day 7 – The One With the Last Day and Park Hopping

Again I was woken up by hubby as he got home from work. We chatted for awhile before I went to the food court for breakfast, where I tucked into the breakfast bagel. Then I went back to my room to shower and get dressed. I bumped into my cleaner and spoke to her for a few minutes. I headed straight to MGM as there was a Home Improvements souvenir I wanted to buy for hubby and I hadn’t had enough money on me the other day when I’d first seen it. I also wanted to watch the Beauty & the Beast show as I’d missed it the other day. I got to MGM just in time for the first Beauty & the Beast show and I managed to catch the end of Four for a Dollar’s act first – I like these guys, they’re really good. Here I got a shock – I went to check my camera’s memory card to see how much room I had left as I’d been going a bit mad on the photo front (as you do) and it told me the memory was empty! Eh? There was supposed to be over 100 photos there. I took the card out, put it back in and tried again – nothing. Somehow I’d lost over 100 photos from the past four days – to say I was gutted was an understatement! Since coming home and showing it to hubby, it turns out the card decided to reset itself and said it needed formatting. Once it was formatted, it started taking photos again so I really have no idea what happened here. I lost some great photos and I’m still really bummed about it, but what can you do. At least we’re going back in September so I can show hubby the things I did but it’s not the same. Anyway, I digress.

The Beauty & the Beast show was fantastic as always and I got all weepy at the end, even though I know the story has a happy ending. It is official – I’m a sap! I walked to Animation Courtyard and found the stall just past One Man’s Dream that had the Home Improvement souvenirs on it. I bought hubby a grey sleeveless t-shirt with Binford Tools on the front and on the back it said Real Men Don’t Need Instructions. Seeing as hubby’s very good at DIY I knew he’d find it funny, plus he loves the show.

I then walked back to the fastpass kiosk for Voyage of the Little Mermaid and managed to get one for the next show so in I went. I really enjoyed the show, although I felt a little sad as I knew it would be my last time for a few months, but I knew that September would be here in no time. From here, I stopped in a few shops to have a nose round. I fell in love with a pair of Mickey shaped earrings and a Walt Disney World top which looked very comfy so I decided to buy it to wear on the plane journey home. The time was 1.30 and it was so hot and sticky my clothes were well and truly stuck to my skin. MGM was getting incredibly busy so I decided it was time to head back to Pop Century. I called hubby straight away to tell him my tale of woe about the last photos. He was gutted as he’d been looking forward to seeing what I’d been up to. I did a lot of things that we hadn’t done together so now he’d have to wait til our next trip to do them with me.

After talking to hubby and my mum briefly, I had another shower to cool down. The temperature was showing 92 degrees on the WDW Today page and I literally had to peel the clothes off me – yuk! I sat on the bed towel drying my hair and next thing I knew, it was 5pm and I’d fallen asleep with the towel still in my hand – oops! I don’t even remember lying down. I started packing and it dawned on me that I was going home. I also realized how much I’d missed my hubby so I rang him hoping he’d still be up and luckily he was. I had a good cry and felt better knowing that in under 2 days, I’d be home with him. Hubby was picking me up at the airport and I couldn’t wait to see him. After a nice chat, I got dressed and finished packing.

Tonight I had another ticket for the E-Ride night. The queue at the bus stop for Magic Kingdom was huge so I decided to stop for a bite to eat first. I had chicken strips again. Half hour later and the queue was just as bad. I went and sat down to wait for the next bus. While I was sat down, I saw a stroller come flying through the air towards me and land just a few feet away from where I was sitting. I looked up to see where it had come from and saw a man stomping round shouting at his wife saying he didn’t want to be round any of them right now. His wife was holding a small child and she came and picked up the stroller, apologizing and he then had a go at her for apologizing. Their 3 daughters obviously hated their parents arguing because they all started to cry, and it was a terrible scene. What a time and place to throw a strop. They moved towards the front of Classic Hall and all I could see was a lot of gesturing on his part. Talk about ruining the day for them all – and I doubt it did the stroller much good either.

My right knee was really playing up and felt really sore but I decided to keep going anyway. The queue for Magic Kingdom was even bigger and I spotted an Epcot bus pulling in. There were only 2 people waiting for the Epcot bus so I decided to go to Epcot then take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. I got off the bus at Epcot and started walking towards the monorail station when my knee clicked out and suddenly I was in agony with it. I sat down and rubbed my knee but the pain wouldn’t go and I couldn’t click it back into place. This happens every now and then if I do a lot of walking. I hadn’t been prepared for this and didn’t have any painkillers on me, although I had a tub of ibuprofen back at the room. I hobbled round for 10 minutes hoping my knee would improve but it was getting worse, so defeated, I headed back to the Pop Century bus stop. I sat down and carried on massaging my knee while waiting for the bus. This was the longest wait I had and it was just over 15 minutes. My knee pain wasn’t easing up at all so I got on the bus. I hobbled back to my room and took some ibuprofen. The Cheetah Girls was on the Disney Channel so I decided to watch it, hoping it would take the focus off my knee while I was waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in. The pain died down slightly but not enough. After the Cheetah Girls ended, I walked slowly to Everything Pop to try and get some life back in my knee. I grabbed a few refills and sat down to write up more of my trip report. I was hoping to maybe go to the Magic Kingdom but as my knee was still throbbing, I decided not to push it so I went back to my room. I watched That 70’s Show as usual and got comfortable as I was again planning to stay up all night for my flight back to the UK.

I'm soooooo sorry about your painful knee and that it caused you to miss your last E-ride night. I've enjoyed reading about your solo trip, but may I say that there's a noticeable difference from your usual reports. As wonderful as WDW is, it's just not the same without Andy, is it? Was it on the 6th day you to called each other 3 times? If you don't mind, I'd like to suggest a theory about the hundred photos that disappeared for what you thought was no reason--I think it was a cosmic reason. You weren't meant to take those photos, especially of the things that would be new to Andy, until you were both in the picture. Just a theory, mind you. Let us all know how the pictures you take on the trip you'll start in a few days turn out. Have fun--and then tell us all about. Thanks, Susan Yates
