Wednesday 22nd December
We were up at 7.30 and checked out by 8.30. Id gotten thirsty about 5am and the water in the bathroom was warm. I opened the mini bar and found a can of diet coke - $2.50! It wasnt until Id opened the can that I noticed there was a 6.5% tax added to it PLUS 15% service charge! Huh? A service charge for opening it myself? Thats a new one on me! It was one expensive can of soda!
Anyway, we loaded up the Jeep and drove round to valet park - $8 for the whole day with our annual pass, result! We only had to go along one walkway so wed definitely valet park again it was worth every cent.
We headed to Cinnabon for breakfast a Cinnabon classic each and we shared a medium diet coke for $8. Yum, I love their cinnamon classics!
We walked to Universal Studios next. There was a fair amount of people about which surprised me it was the busiest Ive ever seen it.
First stop Shrek 4D.
With our room keys we were ushered right to the front of the line woohoo and as we got there, the door was just opening. We stayed in the pre-show room for about 10 minutes, then we were ushered into the theatre. I kept my legs up to start with I hate the spiders bit but yet one of the buggers still touched me! Yuk!
We walked outside the gift shop no Shrek characters unfortunately. We carried on walking and taking photos until we got to the new(ish) Revenge of the Mummy ride.
Hubby wanted to ride it so I waited outside. Verdict? He loved it so much so that he went back for another go. This time, I met him inside the shop so we could look at the ride photo. It was good but we didnt buy it.
We carried on walking, taking a nice leisurely stroll. We ended up by Men in Black so hubby went on. He loved it but said Id have hated the spinning bits if it werent for the spinning round, Id have loved it apparently. Bummer! Hubby bypassed the Back to the Future ride and we ended up in front of T2. I still hadnt seen this but it was a 30 minute wait and Popeye was calling me, so I still havent seen it. Off to Islands of Adventure we trekked.
As we were queuing to go through the gates, the couple in front of us were caught trying to use their 1 day pass to Universal Studios to get into Islands of Adventure. When the woman turned round to leave, we both nearly screamed lets just say that she was a walking advert again plastic surgery, and she had the biggest fish lips I have ever seen on a human. Yuk!! Anyway, I digress!
Once into the park, I suggested to hubby that we head straight to Popeye as everyone else was congregating around Hulk. Amazingly he agreed! So, through Marvel Super Hero Island we trek to get to Toon Lagoon. There is a slight queue, nothing major. Its a warmer day for getting soaked but the water is still freezing brr! After our first go, there was no queue at all so we were allowed to go round again. After the next go, there was quite a queue so we had to get off but we walked back round and cut in with our keycard. And why not. We didnt have a full barge so we didnt spin round as much. Its definitely better with a full barge! By the time the ride ended, the queue was huge so we dried a little and made our way back to Hulk. There was now a 65 minute wait for it oops! Hubby couldnt be bothered to go on despite our front of the line access so we left.
We waited 10 minutes for our car at valet, then parked round the corner so we could change clothes in the back seat. Dried and changed, we decided to hit Checkers for some lunch as it was 12pm. Big mistake it was heaving. The queue went straight down to the back of the restaurant and the drive through queue was huge. Wed never seen it like this before. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our food. It was worth it though. We each had a double champ burger and we shared some chili cheese fries and a diet coke. Very yum and bargaintastic at under $10!
From Checkers, we went back to Disney, stopping at Publix for beer, diet coke and white cheddar popcorn. Oh and Krispy Kreme filled doughnuts, oh my! We relaxed for a few hours, waking up at 5pm. We showered and drove to the Olive Garden on the 192. We had never eaten here before now we wish wed tried it sooner! How yum is the food here? It was 6pm and we were seated straight away. We ordered diet cokes and bruschetta for a starter. We had no idea you were brought garlic bread sticks, nor did we know your main course comes with a choice of salad or soup, otherwise wed never have ordered the starter! We both chose the salad, which was divine. Even Andy enjoyed it even though he hates salad he calls it rabbit food. The bruschetta was amazing but gigantic! Hubby had the spaghetti meatballs and as I couldnt decide what to eat, I had the Tour or Italy lasagna, pasta alfredo and chicken parmigana. All of it was divine. The cost for our meal was $35.80 plus tip. Well worth it I think we discovered a new favourite!
We headed back to Pop Century, grabbed some bits and headed to the Food Court for beer and a strawberry daiquiri for me woohoo. We were back in our room by 11pm for a double dose of That 70s Show and lights out followed at midnight.
