Friday 17th December

We were up at 6am so we showered and dressed. I’d woken up with some sharp stabbing pains in my head so took some ibuprofen. We then headed off for our first morning ritual (after locating the jeep – we’d walked right past it and ended up about 7 rows in the wrong direction!). First up, breakfast at Denny’s on the 192. Hubby had his favourite corned beef hash platter and I had the French toast slam. Mmm! Breakfast was $17 plus tip. Next stop – Walmart! We were there 2 hours and spent $174! We bought a 3ft Christmas tree, Christmas lights, a case for my Gameboy Advance and games, toiletries, beer, a DVD, some magazines, a Christmas t-shirt for hubby, a strappy top for me, a cooler and some cheetos, to mention a few items. Considering we had a full trolley, it was well worth the money.

Next up was the Florida Mall so I could shop at Old Navy. I was after some Christmas trousers for MVMCP that night. I bought 2 Christmassy long sleeve tops and a pair of green Christmas trousers. I also bought a fluffy pink jumper. Amazingly, it was all on sale and it only cost me $38! There was also a big sale at the Disney store – a lot of the beanies were buy one get one free. I bought a huge Stitch dressed as an angel and a big Roo, plus some half price mini tree beanies for our Christmas tree. We stopped for lunch at the Food Court and chose Sbarro – ham and pineapple pizza and stuffed meat and sausage pizza between us.

By now, my headache had worsened loads and I was feeling very unwell. It had now turned into a migraine. We drove back to Pop Century and went straight back to the room. By the time we got back, I could barely see and was holding my head constantly. It was only 1pm. I took some ibuprofen and paracetamol and fell asleep. I slept soundly until nearly 5pm. Andy had fallen asleep too and we realized that we’d missed a meet we’d arranged for 2.30pm at Magic Kingdom (sorry guys). My head was still thumping and I felt terrible. I rested a while longer and I wasn’t sure if we’d make it to Magic Kingdom at al. I didn’t want to miss MVMCP so we headed to MK anyway as we had a PS for 6pm at the Liberty Tree Tavern. We’d have dinner and then see how I felt.

We got to MK via the Disney bus and we were in very quickly and were given our wristbands. We walked through Main Street USA and I was a wreck as usual. We saw the tree lighting ceremony which was really lovely. Normally I would’ve enjoyed the carols but my head still felt like it was going to explode. We walked past the Partners Statue (after a few photos) and headed straight for Liberty Square.

There was a huge line to check in for PS’s but we were seen reasonably quickly. We only had a 5 minute wait until we were called and were taken to our table. Our server took one look at my lanyard and said “I can see you’re Disney fans.” We requested our drinks and were brought our salad with strawberry dressing and hot bread rolls with whipped butter, all very tasty.

Chip came round while we were picking at the food so we got our photo taken.

Next, it was time for our main course – turkey, flank steak, ham, cornbread stuffing, mash potato, carrots, macaroni cheese and turkey gravy. It was all delicious, I just love the food here.

what was left!

We had visits from Goofy, Pluto and Minnie.

Minnie had a thing for hubby and she kept stroking his head, it was so funny.

I don't care what Minnie thinks, I'm not sharing!

Our server bought us some more turkey and flank steak. We ate a little more dinner before deciding to give up. We did manage to save a little room for that lovely apple cobbler and ice cream, oh and the Christmas tree shaped cookies. Total cost for our meal was $42. We left our server a good tip as he was excellent with the drinks and food. By the end of the meal, I was still feeling rotten and I took 2 more ibuprofen and paracetamol. Hubby asked me if I wanted to stay for the party and I didn’t want to miss it so I suggested we stay put and see how I felt.

On the way out, I went to the toilet and while queuing, I struck up a conversation with a mum and daughter about pins. They raved about my limited edition Stitch cast member pin and they gave me some great advice on where to get pins, websites etc. We bid our farewells outside where hubby was waiting for me. We walked through Liberty Square which was empty. Hubby didn’t fancy the Haunted Mansion so we carried on and walked through to Adventureland. We walked onto Pirates of the Caribbean – there was no queue whatsoever. Neither of us had been on this ride before. I knew there was a drop so felt a bit anxious – of course I knew it was approaching when we ended up in the dark and the guy sat in front kept telling his kid “hold on tightly now”. The drop was nowhere near as bad as I’d been expected and I felt very dumb – but I gave hubby a good laugh so I’m glad I served a purpose! We both really enjoyed it. All night hubby was singing yo-ho yo-ho a pirate’s life for me!

We came across Peter Pan and Wendy not far from Pirates – I’d never seen them before so naturally I had to have a photo taken. They loved my pins and Peter commented on my Christmas trousers. He also pointed out my PhilharMagic pin and asked me what the best part of PhilharMagic was – to keep the peace I said why, the Peter Pan bit of course, to which Peter replied “hey I like you!”

this was the first time I'd ever seen either of them!

next up: do I make it for Wishes and the parade?

Part 2!

We were disappointed to see that the Jungle Cruise was shut – I’d really been looking forward to riding that in the dark! Some other time I guess. We noticed loads of people around here. There was a queue for Magic Carpets of Aladdin. We walked back to the hub and then on to Tomorrowland so I could finally ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. There was a queue! Can you believe it? The only time I’ve experienced queues on the TTA is when the rain’s coming down! Tomorrowland was soooo full of people, I’d never seen it like this before. I guess it was because of Stitch’s Great Escape. We jumped on the TTA and I got quite tearful again. The queue for Buzz Lightyear was 25 minutes when we got off. We headed for Mickey’s Star Traders so I could buy the night’s LE party pin. I found out that the MVMCP Passholder pins were at Exposition Hall so made a pledge to go there before the night was over.

We went back on the TTA, then went to look at Stitch. The standby was 35 minutes and we didn’t fancy queuing up. The queue for Buzz went down to 15 minutes so we joined the queue. It was well under 10 minutes from when we joined. I did really bad – 4,000ish! Hubby got 41,000 – well, we were rusty from not riding for a few months!

It was nearly time for Wishes and I was still feeling pretty poorly. I complete forgot about meeting fellow Passporters for Wishes – sorry everyone! We found a quiet spot in the Rose Garden so Andy could film the fireworks while I sat nursing my head. The fireworks didn’t exactly help my head but I enjoyed them as much as I could.

We sat for awhile contemplating our next move. Do we stay for the parade or go back to Pop? Andy really wanted to stay so I agreed. We went and saw Mickey’s PhilharMagic – the queues were ridiculous! It was outside the building stretching beyond Cinderella’s Carousel. We joined anyway and got in the next show.

I always well-up when Tinkerbell appears and this was no exception – I adore this show! I especially like it when I’m sat close to people who have never seen it before - I love their reactions.

After PhilharMagic, we walked through to the front of the castle as it was nearing time for the Parade. I stopped in Tinkerbell’s Treasures as I normally buy earrings from here. I bought a huge pair of Tink earrings and some Cinderella ones, both very cute. The castle was closed off so we ended up viewing the parade from the entrance to Liberty Square. I was a little disappointed with the spot as the lighting wasn’t too great and some of my photos did come out too dark but it was our fault for leaving it so late.

The parade was wonderful though, I really enjoyed it.

Andy was desperate for a drink after the parade and after finding most of the carts shut or closing, we went to Casey’s Corner. We sat outside Casey’s watching the Castle for a few minutes, drinking in silence as we took in the sights and sounds of our favourite place. There was a showing of Celebrate the Season on the stage forecourt due at midnight so we figured why not stay and watch it.
show15.jpg

It was a good show I thought, if a little long winded.

It was soon time to leave, but I realised walking down Main Street that I hadn’t paid a visit to Exposition Hall yet to pick up my Passholder Pin. Oopsie! Inside Exposition Hall, they directed me to where the Passholder Pins were kept, which was round the back of the shop. We got there just in time I think – there were 2 people in front of us and by the time I’d bought my Pins, there were at least 14 people behind us.

We took a nice slow walk to the bus stops. Pop Century has the furthest walk to the bus stop. The bus stop lines were full. The great thing was that the buses were arriving 2 at a time. We made it on to the 6th bus and got a seat too. Result! Magic Kingdom is the furthest park away. 20 minutes later, we were back at Pop Century. It was gone 1am. I went straight to sleep after taking some more pills for my head - it was still pounding like mad – but hubby stayed up until gone 2am. I had a terrible night’s sleep, my headache woke me up nearly every half hour on the dot.

coming up in Day 3 - some time spent at MGM!

Anz
You are a true Disney Fan, what a trooper. I would never have been able to do all that you did with such a terrible headache. It would have been off to bed with me and everyone else would have to go on to the parks on their own. Really sorry to hear you were so unwell, I hope by morning your headache cleared up.
Love the photos.

What a shame about your headache Anz :(

Another great day - and the photos you took of the parade are great! Mine have got more backs' of peoples' heads in than the parade itself :)

Another thorough report, Anz--and this time amazingly done while suffering a terrible headache. You know how much we all like to read about your adventures so it was very brave of you to soldier on for our sakes!

About the fireworks photos--good job, Andy.

love the reports! keep them coming! :)

MsPennieLane, oh, I loved your trip report. The details were amazing and your photos were gorgeous. I felt like I was on holiday with you.

Your poor head - how disappointing for you. I hope you still managed to enjoy the day.

Jo

Well done you for carrying on. I'm a migraine sufferer too and being physically sick is not unheard of so I can't imagine watching fireworks or doing rides. I hope you managed to enjoy some of it. Can't wait to read more...

Claire

thanks for the great TR's Keep them up
and the photo are wonderful

Thanks for the great posts!!! It makes me soiooo excited to plan for my trip next christmas!!!! :teeth:

Loved the report - what is it about MK that makes people unwell :rolleyes1 When we were there for CP breakfast I was so ill I only had two bananas and some iced water (none of which hung around long  ) and DH and kids had to go on magic carpets, POTC, Stitch and Buzz without me (I then admitted defeat and we went back to the hotel) - at least you kept your appetite :mickeybar

Great trousers!

Lovely report and photos. Sorry you suffered such a severe headache though.

Hope you enjoy your holiday in 5 days time. :cool1:
