Anywhere You have Eaten That You Know You Won't Go Back?

ok, we'll give LeCellier a fair shot...I think I'm most hesitant because it involves the "in-laws" ;) We are also going to 'Ohanas for the first time. I'm really looking forward to some good eats! So far we've been lucky enough to not have a bad experience w/ Disney dining, but it's nice to hear ahead of time what we might expect. Thanks all!

Never go back to:

1- 'Ohanas
2- Whispering Canyon
3- Planet Hollywood

Chefs du France.....problem with the food, but mostly really really rude CM's. (An this was long before our current impasse with the French).

Sci fi. We waited a long time to be seated and then we had to share a car (the backseat) with another family. The food was not that good. I wish I had said no to my son. Would have saved me a lot of money. Plus it was too dark in there. Plus our waiter was not that pleasant.
WOW, I had the total opposite experience at Sci Fi! We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food was good, and our waiter was excellent to say the least. The waiter observed my son "stealing" his grampy's cherry, so he took it upon himself to go get him a bowl full of cherry's!!

We'll definately be going back!

I also saw above the Dole Whip stand in MK - LOVE that TOO!

Never will go back to Biergarten even if it were the last restaurant open at WDW! Ugh -- oompah music blasting you while you eat and servers trying to get you to sway back and forth. Excuse me, I'm trying to eat here :p

Didn't like San Angel Inn, either... I guess I know now why they keep it dark there. Maybe ignorance really is bliss?!?!?

Really disliked Planet Hollywood -- overpriced, loud, poor food, lousy service.

You might twist my arm to go back to (but only if you're paying):

Yachtsman Steakhouse
Flying Fish
Chef Mickeys

(especially Ducklite). Never have I seen such a list of "never agains!". We've been six years in a row, and have never had a "lousy" meal.. some were not so memorable, but nothing to label "yuck". Le Cellier is one of our musts... have never had anything less than wonderful experiences with food and CM's.

Boy, some of you folks sure are picky!!

Well, I’ll chime in with:

The food court in “The Land”. I’ve been three times to three separate booths. Every meal was ultra bland.

The Coral Reef. Been twice and both times the portions were small and the food was so-so. But I loved our wait staff both times. Been there for a drink and snack in between lunch and dinner and will do this again.

ANY Planet Hollywood. The food is just not worth the visit. I have been to four of them.

The Rose and Crown’s service a just OK, the atmosphere (well we were outside and it was HOT) and the food was not memorable. In fact I don’t remember what we ordered but I do remember making the comment that it was disappointing.

But……………. Things change and many of these were a few years back. I think over all the food has greatly improved over the last 10 years. I might try the R & C again sometime.

I’ll try Le Cellier again but the cheese soup that I had was so salty that I just ate the bread sticks. (too bad lol)

And the only place that we don’t miss is The Brown Derby.

Dee & Greg,

I agree with you. Granted, there are several places that are just OK. For instance, I don't go to Chef Mickey's for the food! I go there because DS4 LOVES it! It's a fun place for kids, not a place to have an extravigant meal. If that's what's needed, go to V&A's!

Same with Whispering Canyon! The food is not really that good, but I don't go there for the food, I go for the entertainment.

I can't say there is anywhere I won't go again.

We didn't care for the Liberty Tree Tavern--characters were fine, food was just okay, cost was too high for what we got, and most of all...

the two-year-old that was sitting at our table was terrible! It was our last day of 13 and she was exhausted!! And that is the variable that may have colored our opinion of the experience.

this was a great thread and I enjoyed reading everyone's opinion. I voted no on LeCellier, mainly because I just didn't understand why it had such good reviews. We ate lunch once, it was OK, I would compare it to my local steak house, but more expensive. So tried dinner, waited 45 minutes with PS. Went in and there was a huge group of big wigs. The CMs were falling all over them and ignored more of the rest. My bread sticks were hard and cold and we asked for more, twice we asked, they never came. The food was again, just OK. SSSSOOOO tried dinner again. Not very good service and the food was again, just OK, nothing to write home about. Did have the pretzel bread once during these 3 visits and it was hot and wonderful, but since we are 3 for 3, we will move on. We visit WDW 5 to 6 times a YEAR, staying anywhere from 1 week to 2 weeks each visit, and our list of food places that we visit is very small now. While lots of places the food is OK, it no were compares to the price you pay for it. We like Ohana's occassionally--once a couple of years, along with HDD. I agree about the fast food at the American Adventure....the absolute worse burger joint on property. And the Chinese restraurant, I can get better Chinese food in our little town in WV. I don't starve on vacation, but we sure do visit the same restraurants alot during our time there. We do Chef Mickey's when we take our grandson in the summer, it's OK.

I'm not sure if there's a restaurant that I'd NEVER go back to...never had that awful of a meal at WDW. :)

But....we won't be returning to TONY'S for a while. We tried in twice and both times were disappointed...WAY overprice, atmosphere was nothing special, food was okay. Much better restaurants to go to before I return to Tonys.

Chefs de France. Snooty service, yucky food. Bad kids menu and hideously overpriced. Did I leave anything out?

LoL! Well, I have a few things to add. I've never had any problem with food anywhere. But then again I've never eatten at a moderate or expensive place. I've only ate at the places where you get your food fast and it's cheap. But, then again, it might be in what you order. I always get chicken fingers or hamburgers and how can you make those wrong? LoL! Right?

I have a question: Does the pizza at Pizza Planet differ from Pizza at other Disney restuarants?

The Pizza Planet pizza is what I would call "Fast Food Pizza." They're all the same, not prepared individually, rubbery crust, horribly cheap sauce, and a small amount of cheese. Its served in individual sized pizzas with no slices cut. Which means you are stuck trying to saw your way through it with a plastic knife and fork.

Two comments:
1) EVERYTHING at WDW is overpriced. From the bottled water to the icecream and certainly dinner anywhere. I won't ding any restaurant because the $6 hamburger wasn't worth $6. Duh, it's a hamburger!

2) I feel the need to defend one of my favorite restaurants. Sci-Fi. Food is good. We've been 4 times now and the service was excellent every time. The milkshakes are fantastic! Plus the atmosphere is cool. It IS recreating a drive-in theater. I don't know why people expect food that's more than sandwiches and fries.

Every bad dining experience we've had at WDW was due to other patrons.

Hi there.. what do you mean other patrons?? Were they throwing rolls at you or something?? LOL

>>^..^<<

I will never eat again at:

1. Coral Reef at EPCOT - just really nasty seafood.
2. Planet Hollywood (ANY PH ANYWHERE!!!)
3. Marakesh - There was no entertainment and the food was bland and just too "cultural" for me.

For those of you who chose Le Cellier... could you please tell me why? We have a PS there in a couple of weeks (w/ the in-laws) and we were figuring for DH, DS, and myself it was going to be over $120. If it's going to be a bad experience we'll let the inlaws go w/out us. (FIL says this is a must...but he forgets this is our vacation too ;) ) Thanks for any help!

We've eaten there no less than 15 times in the past five years, and although some meals were more memorable than others, we've never had a bad meal, or even a so-so meal there. We've always found the service at least efficient and friendly, but sually great, the food was always at lease good, and the portions are large.

Worst dining experience my wife and I have EVER had anywhere was at the 50's Prime Time. My wife was 5 months pregnant with our now 6 year old son. For anyone that's eaten there you know how close together the tables are. Well the family at the next table over had like 4 kids between 2 and 7.

They made a stong argument for the advantages of beating your kids.

j/k

But these kids were Satan's spawn. Jumping up and down, screaming, playing under the table, running around the restaurant... The parents were -trying- to settle them down but nothing worked. They even put a kid in timeout. THEY MADE HIM GO STAND ABOUT 6 FEET AWAY BETWEEN TWO OTHER TABLES WITH OTHER PEOPLE SITTING THERE!

The entire room erupted in applause when they family finally finished and left (returned to hell?). My wife and I decided it was good that she was already pregnant otherwise we'd probably have skipped kids altogether.
