Anything Special on October 1, 2011??

I read on another thread there isn't anything special planned for WDW's ACTUAL 40th birthday on October 1st. Anyone know of anything different?

I know of a person from out of town who is WDW's "twin sister", having been born October 1, 1971. She will be visiting for that weekend. I have been in touch with some high-level Disney PR people who say that, "yes, it would be a wonderful story and to do something for her", but that nothing is planned.

The only assistance this person was to give was to put me in touch with someone from The Orlando Sentinel which is doing a feature, and the major newspaper in that person's state which is also doing a feature.

we are leaving this day and I am tempted to stay (we are driving) and just do a morning at MK. Does anyone know if I can include our leaving day with the MYW tickets?

As long as you have valid days left on your tickets, it doesn't really matter what day you use them. depending on your current plans, you may need to add an extra day to the tickets you've already purchased, but that isn't very difficult to do, and you can do it while you are at the parks.
