I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything special being planned at WDW to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of 9/11? I am going to be in the world that day and would like to take part in whatever they do. I know they did something last year? Any ideas? I think this is going to be the best place to be on 9/11. I found it was a pretty emotional day for me last year and I couldn't really concentrate on being at work. Being at the world would be more peaceful and allow time for reflection, as well as remembering that for every bit of sorrow in the world, there is much more joy.

Hi,
We were there last 9/11, at MGM. At noon they had a small ceremony with the national anthem and a moment of silence. It was very tastfully done. moving, but not intrusive. Maybe they will do something similar this year.

RKC,

We were also at MGM on 9/11 last year and I felt what Disney did was very appropriate and tasteful. Also after it was over you did not feel guilty about getting on with your day, if that makes sense.

Looks like we'll be celebrating the magic at the same time. Sept 6 - Sept 14 at CBR. We plan to be at MGM on 9/11, maybe they will do the same thing.

Yep, we're there at exactly the same time. I come in the night of the 5th and leave the night of the 14th. And I'm also staying at CBR. I swear, this trip, I'm going to get something lime green!

Great! Then when I'm wandering around CBR, I'll just look for the person in lime green and know it's you. LOL.

Have a wonderful trip, and if they do have a moment of silence on 9/11, i'll know you are enjoying it also.

Any guesses on crowds on 9/11?

We will probably spend the day at MK and I would love to see something done to remember the tragedy that occured.

Glad to see how Disney has opened up to feelings regarding 9/11. What a change from the loud and angry protests of cast members who were not allowed to wear US flag pins after the attack! Because Disney did not "represent a country in particular"...

we were in Disney World when 9/11 took place.....living a nd being native New Yorkers we felt guilty not being home to try and help.....last year we chose to skip that week but changed this year....we will be sailing on the Wonder on Thursday 9/11....but our hearts and prayers go out to our nation....which stands stronger today!
God Bless America!

According to officialdisneypintrading.com they are releasing a memorial LE pin on 9/11 too.
