Hey everyone! We just booked flights for a quick trip to WDW this Thanksgiving. We are surprising our kids by getting them up at 4:30am with "LET'S GO TO DISNEY WORLD RIGHT NOW!!" Ah.... can't wait!:goodvibes

Anyway, we will be there for the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm assuming it will be a madhouse, but I thought I'd throw the question out there for y'all:

What should I expect at Thanksgiving in the World, and is there anything special going on at that time in any of the resorts or parks?

If there is already a thread or podcast about this, please point me that way! Or put your comments, thoughts, and suggestions below.

Thanks so much!

I think i heard this talked about when i was listening to a email to show to put into the index.

1/15/09 EMAIL
43:00-Email-parks on major holidays

That might be it.........

Hi Susie,

This sounds like a fun surprise for your kids!
If you want to eat thanksgiving type food they serve it in the Liberty tree tavern in the magic kingdom. But you probably already knew that.
Have a great trip!:goodvibes

Sooze - 2010 Thanksgiving specific information hasn't been released yet(apparently Disney doesn't realize that people like to plan in advance- it's only 2 months away!), but we'll update this page as soon as we hear anything.

Hopefully someone who has been to the World on Thanksgiving will be able to give you some help!

Have fun with the surprise! We did that last year and it was a blast!

what a great surprise!!!
we have gone to Disney on Thanksgiving for the past two years. To be honest with you, other than the special meals at some of the restaurants, the entire place is more in Christmas mode than Thanksgiving. Year before last we ate at Trails End and it was pretty good, last year we just did something totally different and went to T-Rex.
My advice would be to mix it up, it will never replace a typical Thanksgiving so do something different.
Oh and yes, it was very busy at the parks on Thanksgiving but heck you are at Disney right, so it is all good...
Have fun!

Thanks for all of the great links, thoughts, and advice so far!!

I did a bit more research online, and I'm thinking the coolest part will be the day after Thanksgiving, when the Christmas spirit takes over the parks and resorts! We will fly back home ready for the new holiday season!

I got Thanksgiving dinner/lunch reservations at Tutto in Italy. Of course, there were not a lot of restaurant options left this late in the game! So, Italy it is!

Thanks again!

I can't help you. Never been to Disney on any major holiday.

Just wanted to say that I love waking kids up and saying, "Hey, get up, we're going to..." It isn't for everyone, but it is fun for those of us who enjoy it.

this is great! I've only been there once on thanksgiving day and we had thanksgiving dinner in Epcot at the UK's Rose & Crown, but that was 12 years ago so not sure if they still do that. I'm usually there starting the day after thanksgiving. I'm not sure how long you are staying for but the week after thanksgiving is great. it's not as crowded and it's all decorated for christmas. I love this time at disney!

Pretty awesome Sooze! I'd love to see the kids faces when you tell them. :goodvibes

Well, Aaron.. I plan on recording that moment and posting it on the Trip Report! So, stay tuned!! ;)
