DD8's 5yo goldfish died suddenly this afternoon. She's actually taking it pretty well considering she's a very emotional child. Anyway, she doesn't want to bury it because she's afraid we'll forget the fish when we move (not happening) so she said she just wants to keep her in a box.

So after having visions of flies swarming all over the house and the thick stench of rotting fish in the air :scared1: :scared: :rotfl2: DH had the brilliant idea of keeping the fish in the freezer in the garage. I have to say it's a great dieting trick because I can't go into it unless absolutely necessary and that's where all the good stuff is.

So what's the wierdest thing in your freezer :lmao: ?

theres an extra battery for my cell phone in ours. and 15 gallons of bbq sauce.

My darling son put some paint balls in freezer and my darling daughter filled a latex glove with water and put it in the freezer:confused3 Freaked me out when I first saw it:scared1: Looked like a hand in the freezer.

I wish I could find that very old thread about the DISer whose MIL kept her deceased dog in the freezer.

My Mom did the rubber glove full of water thing. Once frozen, she'd prop them up in a punch bowl for her Halloween parties. Sometimes, she used green food coloring and always used dry ice. It was always neat to see the hand reaching out of the punch bowl with the dry ice billowing out.

Dead birds. I volunteer in wildlife rehabilitation and when one of our little charges dies, I keep it for a friend of mine who does bird woodcarvings. He uses them for models.

But only in the outside refrigerator, whose freezer is not used for food!!

We also sometimes have snowballs the children collect in January to enjoy in July...

I also want to say condolences to your DD on the loss of her pet fish...

Mice for the spouse's snake! DH doesn't like to feed live mice to Tori (she's a California King snake). It teaches her to be aggressive and go after whatever makes its way into her tank. Plus, we tried it once, and the mice fought back and split her throat open!

DH went to the reptile shop one day and asked for dead mice for the snake, and they put 2 live ones in a paper bag and slapped the bag on the counter, killing the poor things!:scared1: So DH feels it's more "humane" to freeze them! :rotfl: I can't go into that freezer until I know they're done, cuz you hear little scratching on the paper bag they're in.... Ah, I'll stop now... Anywho, when they are mice-cicles he thaws them back out to room temperature under the snake light and feeds them to her.

I can't serve any food out of the freezer to company, they are afraid it may be "mystery meat!"

My parent's vet told my sister to stick the dead dog (doxie) in the fridge until he could pick her up for cremmation.

My sister was a parents house to load up on meals for mom & dad after dad's quad bypass surgery....

Her reply was that dog is not going in the freezer with all of my hard baked food!!!!

Can ya picture a little dead doxie staring at you when you reach in for some lasagna???? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

btw, the dog was 17 years old, she was really ready to go and we were all thankful that she passed, the day my dad came home from the hospital.(after spending 3 weeks at the vet during his surgery and rehab)....

BTW, bury the poor fish. Can you explain that she will then be in heaven and follow you in her soul to your "new house"?

My DD lost her first fish at 5 too, she cried about that fish for 2 years. And still gets teary eyed when we talk of her, Goldy....

I can put you in touch with another DISer who has a turtle shaped sandbox that might come in handy...

Do you SERIOUSLY put LIVE mice in the freezer and freeze them to death? I find that to be more inhumane than just quickly getting it over with. :sad1:

This thread is making me sick. :faint:

We will probably end up burying her. We're not moving so I don't know why she's worried about that. BTW, she's already talking about her next pet (NOT A SNAKE :scared1:) so I think she'll survive the loss. I did shove the fish behind the waffle since it freaked me out when I had to go in the freezer for something.

The weirdest thing in my freezer right now is a giant bag of lima beans. I really wanted lima beans with dinner one night, and I sent DH to the store to get some. He came home with a HUGE bag. :sad2:

We have our deceased fish buried in back yard, 2 years ago the township put in a new sewage line and we made them move where they were going to dig because of fish cemetery!!

I have trash in my freezer ( chicken bones, etc), so it won't smell till garbage day.

My husband and I have brand new fruitcake in our freezer. We like to rotate the stock of our fruitcake. :thumbsup2
