Does anyone have anything nice to say about Ohana breakfast? There's a whole thread about people disliking it and how it has gone down hill. I've never been but have an ADR for my upcoming trip in Sep. I'm getting worried. I'm thinking of canceling and changing to somewhere else that morning. Any advice?

We've stayed at the Polynesian almost every year for quite a few years.
'Ohana dinner and breakfast is a must do for us each time we go if we can get an ADR. Sadly, we've crossed dinner off our list for a while after a few disappointing experiences. We'll go back sometime~

The character breakfast has always been great and we've always enjoyed it.
We like the family style way they serve the food. It's always been fresh, good and plentiful.

We had breakfast there on our last day this past January.
We did notice a bit of a difference in the food. I can't really put my finger on it, but it seemed more institutionalized? rather than fresh portions. Just didn't seem as fresh and flavorful as usual.
We did have a bigger group though, so maybe that had something to do with it. However, our service was great, the food plentiful, we ate a lot ::yes:: and they were happily willing to keep bringing as much as we wanted.

The characters were great, almost everyone in our group ran a race in the Marathon weekend and the characters loved the medals and posed for awesome and funny pictures.

The kids' parade they have is fun!

I wouldn't discourage you from going~
however... :scratchin
I see your ticker~ are you staying at the YC/BC?
We also stayed at YC last November and had the character breakfast at Cape May Café. The character breakfast was outstanding there in everyway...
food, service, character interaction.
I know you are specifically asking about 'Ohana, and I don't know if you have plans for CMC, but I definitely recommend it! I know experiences vary so much, but we give it a :thumbsup2

Dinner has gone downhill... a lot! But breakfast is as great as always!

Haven't been with all of the construction so I am not sure how that effects dining there.

Most of those threads are about dinner, not breakfast.

Although I go every two years and have not had the same problems with dinner. Yet.

This makes me nervous because I've never been to Ohana before and I snagged a Breakfast and Dinner reservation (They are very scarce still). I was looking forward to dinner because my boyfriend loves the meat skewers (churrascaria style) look to Ohana's and I think the food look awesome. It's gonna be his first sit down meal ever at Disney and I want him to love it.
Then I started to notice all these recent threads hating on it lately :worried:
If I've never been and have nothing to compare it to, is it really "as bad" as people say? How can it be with no reservations available?!:faint:

Well everyone is different, you just may enjoy it! They took the delicious chicken skewers off of the menu so it is now beef, pork and shrimp. I loved the chicken and shrimp the most! They did away with the salad in the beginning of the meal also.. But someone said that they asked for it and recieved it. They added lettuce wraps but have not heard good things so far. The service is what really put us off... It was veryyyyy slow! But you may have a great experience there.

Breakfast there is one of my favorites! I have been going there for breakfast since I was a kid and it has not changed one bit. Still delicious and fun! :thumbsup2

I am eager to find out for myself in September. We have eaten here on every trip and it has always been a favorite. This is my Boyfriend's first trip and he is a big meat eater, I am really hoping it goes well as it is also our first dinner of the trip,

I'm very surprised about negative comments. First, I'll say I can't comment about dinner, but breakfast -- it's a must do on our family trips! We've gone there 5 years in a row, last time I was there Sept 2013 and am going again in Sept 2014. They have the BEST fruit juice at breakfast. The service is always friendly and they manage seating very well so you don't have to wait for your food. My daughter loves the characters and I really enjoy watching the kids do their morning parade through the restaurant. It's family style, but the food keeps coming if you finish anything. As I said, it's one of our fav restaurants and we always make a point to go for breakfast. Good luck... give it a try.... I think you'll like it.

We did not get any silverware because they ran out. Very slow service. Horrible experience.

I've been twice for breakfast and once for dinner and have nothing but good things to say.

We enjoy both! Breakfast is fun. Not crowded. Dinner is crowded but I love the food! It's a little hectic in there for sure. Seems like the Waite after ur reservation time is more than most places. I will return for the food though. The shrimp and steak Cooked medium is delicious.

I literally just opened this forum to ask the same question. I am going in two weeks and have a dinner reservation but I am considering changing it to whispering canyon. Any advice?? I love going to ohanas partly just to walk around the poly (we are staying at BC) but with all the construction is it even worth it. And have never been to whispering canyon and have not been to WL in years.... Maybe a better choice?? Help! I am so confused as to what to do!

Here's my advice...stay away from Whispering Canyon. It once had amazing food. Although I can not speak for O'hana dinner it's up to the experience and menu for you to decide. If you have not been to either than review the menus and keep your expectations in check. You can't always depend on reviews. Someone else on here will rave about WC. It was a big disappointment. We couldn't even eat the food.::yes::

Keep it. I enjoy it. its a great place to see lilo and stitch and a reason to see the poly.
