Anything New in 2012

Are there are new rides, shows or restaurants that werent around in Spring 2011 that will be open in mid March 2012

Monsters Cafe is open. The new improved Spiderman might be open by then. The new mini putt might be open. Not sure if the new parade or watershow will be open by then.

My 2 boys (14 & 18) have never been to Universal. We're driving home to PA from Naples, first week of July '12 and I thought I'd surprise them with a day at Universal, but I don't have a clue where to start.

1. Will have dog with us. I see there's a kennel. Will they keep my dog the whole time the park is open?

2. Is it worth paying the extra for the skip to front of line passes? I won't go on roller coasters, but they will.

3. What are must do's for teens who are big time into roller coasters?

4. Suggestions on reasonably priced place to stay.

5. Any discounts I can find anywhere?

I can't thank you enough for any suggestions you can offer. I know Disney very, very well, but not a clue about Universal.

I think you will be coming a bit too early to see the new attractions set to open this spring. I think the Superstar parade and nightly lagoon show...both at the Studios will be open for the busy Spring Break travel period but mid-March might be too early. The mini-golf and Spiderman should be open by then so keep your fingers crossed. With Mardi Gras going on in the Studios, April would make more sense to open the Superstar parade and show after MG is over...which would be late April. They already have the MG parade and concert series on the weekends so I doubt they would have the show "competing" with the parade in the evenings. But...there may be some test runs before it fully opens.

Disclaimer - No specific date has been given for the parade and nightly show to begin...just "Spring 2012" and knowing how theme parks like to try out new things during a busy period, my best guess is sometime in the Spring Break period...probably April. That's purely a guess at this point.
