Originally was going with the DDP but we will only be there for 3 days and really don't want to be tied to ressie's so now thinking of just doing the QS plan. Going with my DH and step-son and last time they complained it was too much food. I looked at menus and we would definitely find some good options to eat. So any negatives on the QS Plan?

Well there is the fact that you will probably spend less just ordering whatever you want and paying for it.

Unles you're getting that plan for free.

We'll, really the only negatives are that you are tied to 2QS and 1S per day, and you could possibly be throwing money away vs paying out of pocket. You may need to pay for extra food out of pocket unless two counter service meals will fill you up from breakfast to bedtime. If your stepson is a Disney child it may work for you, but if he's a Disney adult you will probably do better without a dining plan.

I would view the menus and prices on Allears.net (make sure to add 6.5% tax) and estimate the cost of what you would actually order at each CS restaurant. Don't include a dessert with each meal unless that is how you would normally eat. Just include what you are likely to really want. I estimate snacks at $4 each, since some are a little less and some a little more.

It may in fact be cheaper for you to use the QSDP, but most people seem to come out ahead paying out of pocket for the food they really want.

If you pay out of pocket, remember you can always try a walk up at a table service or use the phone app to make an ADR the day of, even just an hour or two out. So, you don't necessarily need to be completely tied to ADRs but can still enjoy a meal or two at a TS restaurant if you want.

I think I may just buy gift cards and go OOP. My stepson is 19 so considered an adult and there is the possibility of wanting to do a table service.

When we were at WDW for SWW ... We did the Qs dining. After a busy day in the parks a TS meal was like recharging the batteries. With QS it was so exhausting... Working your way through to get food, then hunting down a table, and so on. We ended up paying out of pocket for a couple of TS to get a break! Then we ended up with extra QS on the last day.

As others have said it will cost you more than paying as you go. You are locked into ordering a dessert with each QS rather than the ability to have more snacks throughout the day.

The QS plan is priced so it appears to be a great deal when offered for free.

JMO--Plan would be better if they dropped the dessert and added an extra snack credit. You could use the extra snack to have dessert with your QS meal or have it later in the day.

Plan would be perfect, depending on pricing, if Disney made the dessert/snack change and included a 10% discount on TS meals.

The CS desserts are terrible IMO- and this is coming from someone who can eat Little Debbie desserts and love them!

With that said- the CS meal plan is stretched to the max so that there is very little $ saved, and often not any.

I also agree that the plan would work out better if it was 2cs, 2 snacks, mug.

I read through and saw that your DSS is 19, for me that would change things. My nephew at 19 could eat, and was constantly hungry. He would eat a whole large pizza buy himself them be looking around for something else to eat. He is very athletic, and slim, plays every sport under the sun... So based on this. I would look into DDP for your trip, that way you could do a buffet once a day to help fill him up. Other wise you might be paying out of pocket a lot more for CS.. than you expect. Also I find that with all the walking, the heat and outdoor activity you are... or seem, to get hungrier, and need more calories, while at WDW.

We have received the quick service for free and it worked for us. As far as money goes, Paying out of pocket was cheaper (for us) than buying either of the dining plans, even when I added a couple of table service meals. I did upgrade the free Quick Service for $200 once and that proved to be a good savings since I had already reserved a couple of Character meals for the kids. In using the quick service , some of our favorites included, Flaming Tree(AK), Columbia House(MK), Sunshine Seasons(EPCOT). Best deserts were at Sunshine Seasons (yum! yum!). We ordered a couple of meals at our resort and they let us pick a pastry for a desert, that we saved for the next morning. We also would get a juice or a milk (save for breakfast)with our meal and then use our free cup for our free drink for dinner. We ate a few breakfast bars, and bought breakfast a couple of times (about $10 each). Of course its not going to be as much food as a buffet , but...You can eat some good meals (other than just hamburgers and hotdogs)and a lot of food on the quick service we found.
