We have never flown SW before. We fly out of Detroit on Thursday with a stop in Memphis (no plane change). Back the same way a week later.
I got early bird check in for both flights, as my 24 hour times were bad (outgoing I'm at work at 24 hours with an iffy computer; incoming we will be at MK).
Does early bird mean I can check in at 36 hours, or that they preassign a boarding letter/number?
Coming home, I don't think POR is up and running for magical express yet. So I get the concierge desk to print out our boarding passes (again, I think with letters/ numbers preassigned), take bags with us on bus, and do curbside checkin at MCO, right?
Sorry to sound so stupid. We are used to the whole ME/RAC process with Northwest, but the SW fare was too good to pass up. I am hoping against hope that the RAC is working at POR by April 8.

You don't have to do anything- your boarding numbers will be assigned automatically at 36 hrs out. You won't be able to see and print your boarding passes until 24hrs out, though.

Yes, the desk at POR will print boarding passes for you and you can take luggage on the bus to check curbside or inside the airport. Just remember a tip for the driver who handles your bags is not included in the service to the airport.

And make sure to stop by the RAC podium and make sure they havent been added to the service. Probably not that quick, but you never know!

And if they do add them while you are there, make sure to let us know!!!

daisy...it really was very easy! We use the 36 hour check in when we flew in December. I didn't need to for the way to Orlando as I had a computer available to me at 24 hours prior, but definately for our flight home. I didn't want to have to worry about being in front of a CM at the computer terminal 24 hours prior. Now you can just have them print out yur boarding passes at your conveniene since you will be pre-checked in at the 36 hour mark.

POR resort airline check-in for southwest is up and running--used it yesterday but it has been up since at least 4/5.
