We're thinking 21-29th of September 2009 is when we'll take our next trip. HoJo says there's no rooms available (crap) for them - is there anything big going on at DL at that time? I thought we were avoiding the marathon, D23, homeschool, etc. What are all the September events & dates?

Haunted Mansion event is Sept 9 with the D23 Expo event the following days - you should see the start of halloween decorations going up - and possibly the Haunted Mansion closed if they decide to do the NBC layover this year or not

FWIW, I noticed that the Disneyland page, under Plan and Special Events, shows 2009 right now (not the actual dates though), and states "Venture into the revamped Haunted Mansion, courtesy of clever Jack Skellington and his cohorts from "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.""

We are trying to go sept 18-23... and just heard HOJO was booked too! I wouldlove to know what is happening... we already planned this trip with vacation time and it covers both my husband and son's b-day.
:-( So sad aboutthe HOJO... I am not sure where to stay now..I was holding out for an entertaiment rate I guess I should have booked months ago.

Sorry that the HOJO is booked for your dates. For your next trip, if the ent. rate isn't available for your days, you can book under another rate and then keep on checking with them periodically. If and when the ent. does become available, they will change the rate for you on your booking. :)

There's a ASIS convention being held at the convention centre from 21st-24th September. I guess alot of people will be bringing their families so they can visit Disneyland at the same time.

Hi

I was trying to book a second room for a friend that week in Sept.
I called Hojo's and when I asked what was going on she said they had 2 large groups booked that week.

We have already planned our trip and purchased our airfare for Sept 19-26. I found the same worries - HoJo being booked and even the Disneyland Hotel is not available at the beginning of our trip. What is the ASIS convention? I did as much research as possible to pick these dates for few crowds and it seems I might lose out even with all my planning.
Does anyone have any other info about these dates???

End of September/early October is big with conventions and many schools in California have October Break (yes, October Break exists).

It is one of the more crowded times periods for the fall, but its still not summer crowds.

There's a homeschool conference Sept. 14-17, 2009 and an energy conference the same week. The homeschoolers are at GCH and the energy gurus are at DLH. No colleges are out on break, no schools are doing field trips, it should be nice. Normally, we don't even need to use fastpasses at this time.

FYI - the homeschoolers are having a tough time selling their room block (homeschoolers are already sacrificing one income, so in the economy it's really bad) and are willing to extend the rate to anyone who wants to book. Just 195 per night at the GCH - that's half off!

You can book directly through the link Disney set up for them:
https:
//resweb.passkey.com/go/swhe09

Or if you need park hoppers, check out their website for all the conference deals:
www
southwest-home-education. com
Click on the conference link on the right nav bar.

If you want to make it legit, just stop by the conference, talk to a homeschooler for a few minutes, pick up a brochure, and you have officially attended the conference.
