My DD (3.5) has hit the 38" (without shoes) mark and I noticed that she has officially made the height requirment :thumbsup2 for Kali River Rapids. Now she is going through a phase (I hope) where she is pretty much afraid of everything (the dark, our dog...but only at bedtime :sad2: , thunder, Goofy's Barnstormer, etc. She is not afraid of water! She loves the little drop in Pirate's of the Carribbean (even though it's dark :confused3 ).

I really don't want to rush her and ruin it for later, but it's been over 4 years since I've ridden this ride and frankly all I remember about it was that I liked it. Are your kids afraid?

Thanks!

I think she would be fine! If she doesn't mind the drop on Pirates of the Carribbean she shouldn't have any problem. If she does...well, the ride is pretty short! It will be over before she knows it...that's sad for most of us!

My dd went on when she was 3 and 4 and LOVED it both times. Her 3yr old trip she was a little nervous but it is very tame compared to most rapid rides. As an adult I was disappointed in it but it was still fun to take dd on it. I say go for it. Just an FYI - bring an extra set of clothes just in case ;)

Both my girls (12 & 9) are just big ole scaredy cats(both my girls are still scared of that little "dark" drop in Pirates!). 2 years ago on our trip they both were very iffy about Kali. They sort of wanted to try it, but weren't sure. We finally convinced them and its now one of their faves. :thumbsup2

My son, who is now nearing 4, has also met the requirement. The ride is so tame I will definitely take him on it. There is only one little drop and it is verrry small.

My dd was 6 when she rode it. She didn't like the fire scene, but didn't mind the ride itself.

We also got her on Splash Mountain. She cried after the big drop. She said she wouldn't ride it again until she was 10.

My daughter is 2 and rode the similar rapids ride in Dollywood. (Yeah, she's tall) Anyway, she clung to my arm at the beginning, but when asked at the end, she absolutely loved it and begged to do it again!

I think that you should try it, if she seems interested... If she hates it, it's short, and you can just not do it again.

My DD rode it at 3 and 4 with my DH (I don't like to get that wet) and loved it. She even asked to do again. I personally don't no how tame it is just that she thoroughly enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

Last year my then 3 year old grandson loved it! He just made the height requirement and they gave him a "special" seat to sit in in the raft. I was afraid to ride it....I am not crazy about the "drop" in POC. lol I lived and liked it!!!!!!!

When my daughter was almost 4, she was afraid of this ride also until...she decided that she would ride it if she wore a rain poncho (despite the fact that it was hot). So we put the poncho on her just before boarding and tucked it in around her legs. Although the ride was not one of her favorites, she definitely enjoyed it and even rode it again.

My 10 year old does not like to ride anything that drops or spins. I had to reassure him while we were in line that it does not go that fast. He loved it the drops are smooth and he loved all the sites, so I think after she gets on it she will love it!!!!

We rode KRR for the first time when DS was 4. He loved the ride and we went on it 3-4 times in a row that day, came back several times after that. The only part that bothered him was the fire part: the heat can be a little intense - I don't like it myself - but once I reassured him that Disney makes sure it's safe, he was fine.

Can anyone tell me if this is one of the rides where the height measurement bar is set higher to account for shoes? My DD will turn 4 on our trip next week. She's 38" in bare feet, so closer to 39" with shoes. I'm wondering if their measurement is at 38" though, or higher to account for shoes? If it's at 38" then I can let her wear her sandals. If not, then I'll have to try with her sneakers on since the sole is thicker.

my DS3 was scared but agreed to ride it if he could put on his rain coat. He was the only one who didn't have to change their clothes afterwards. When we went pass the scene w/ the fire he freaked alittle.

We went last summer for my son's 4th birthday and he loved it...In fact we are going back next month and I asked him the 3 things he wanted to do and it was #1.

That ride wasn't so bad. Like an earlier poster said, the drops are smooth and short. The worst part about the ride is getting wet, really. I thought it was going to be more drops and stuff... afterall it's called RAPIDS. Lol.

And I don't know the height requirements.

DD is very afraid on ot but only because it would mess up her hair! :rotfl2:
You cant mess with The Hair! :lmao:

That is too funny! LOL

My ds loved it and he rode it twice. He was 3yrs 5mos on our last trip.

He's also a bit of a daredevil. He did Splash Mtn 2x, BTMR, & Test Track and loved those as well. OP: I think it really depends on the child. Hopefully she will want to do it because it's a water ride. If not, hopefully you'll be able to go again when she's a bit older and has had a chance to outgrow some of her fearfulness.
