One of the best tips I have received from a Costco employee is that ALL Holiday mdse is to be super discounted right before Christmas! They do NOT want ANY Holiday items on the floor on Dec 26. It is like Christmas never even happened!

I went in yesterday, to my local costco, and although some holiday items were marked with a * ( which means it was marked down) they really weren't anything to wow over ( I LOVE the choc. gifty things for @ $4.97!! ) In years past, these super discounts have happened on Christmas eve day. Just wondering tho if anyone has noticed the discounts starting early in your costco?

I was in there today and not much is marked down yet.

I was surprised that the toys were still all full price since there were a ton of left.

It would seem odd for them to mark stuff down since their whole business model is the lowest price to start with and no sales.

Strange. I have never heard of deeply discounted Costco items.

Christmas is the only time I see them reduce lots of stuff at once. One year we were in there on early in the day on Christmas Eve and I stocked up. I remember one of the items was Disney princess dolls. Took care of birthday gifts for friends and DD's bday.

Our Costco moves discounted items/price reduced items to the side aisle by the home and office type stuff. Mostly seasonal items. I've gotten good deals on the wired ribbon in particular.

They do reduce items that aren't moving, but I don't remember the rhyme and reason other than the asterisk, and prices ending in .95 or .97. I'm sure you can google it and find out.

The deeply discounted clearance usually is gone very quickly.

My best score was a loveseat for my daughter's apartment. Full price =$799.
Last one on the floor - $224. I sat on it for an hour waiting for her to arrive with the vehicle that could carry it home. That was last year. New season rolls around - same loveseat on display for full price of $799. And, summer clearance on patio furniture was gone in a couple of hours.

Wonderful!

I don't live close enough to a Costco to keep going over hoping to find the sales, so if it isn't advertised, I won't be driving over. We stop by when we are over that way or drive over for a large food haul.:listen:

Good to know they have some though.

Last year I went to Costco on 12/27 and all the Christmas items were gone. Not 1 thing was left.
Maybe I'll go later today.

We went last night to Costco and there was NOTHING left, hardly a mention that Christmas existed!! I was surprised, the only holiday stuff I saw was the decorations on the cakes...lol Surprisingly as packed as the store was, hubby and I were super impressed how quickly we were able to check out and leave.

Just bought a Christmas cookie decorating kit for .97 cents. 24 cookies and decorating stuff equals after nap activity.

Also got one pound chocolate peanut butter pretzels for 1.97.

A few days ago I was able to get the giant Darth Vader Potato head for $4.97. I also got the Star Wars 4 pack flashlights for $4.97. Saw Disney Princess and Planes Table and kids chair sets for about $30. Last week I also got the kids toy work bench with tools they had for $15. (We also had the chocolate candy cane covered pretzels cheap)
