Have any input on the Canon EF 22mm f 1.4 USM? I have been reading all the reviews I can find and looking at photos. My question is have any of you tried or own this lens and your experiences with it? Like everyone else, I am looking for my favorite lens to carry everywhere with me. I was also looking at the 17-55 f 2.8, but I fear I am becoming a large aperature junkie, trying to gather the most light in indoor shooting situations. Any input is great appreciated. Thanks in advance.:thumbsup2
P.S. I know it comes at a cost, but thinking it will eventually save me in buying any more lenses in the wide category (or at least hoping):rotfl2:

I just bought it (50mm 1.4)!! :thumbsup2 but it is not supposed to arrive until Monday. Hopefully someone can give us some good tips.

I had the Nifty Fifty ( I realize this is not what you purchased) on my recent trip and kept finding myself wanting less zoom and more aperature.:confused3 Don't get me wrong, I got some decent shots with the 50 that I would not have otherwise obtained, but it is so zoomed in that you are really narrowing your focus. I want more scene in those less lit places of my photos rather than portraits.:thumbsup2

I looked at your trip photos and you got some really nice photos. Just curious why did you go for the 50mm with light gathering after some of those shots? I find myself wanting more in the photo in the low light. Great job and thanks for the photos, so just curious!:cool1:

Just remember that your DOF is really small at f/1.4. I have missed some shots with mine due to the focus point instead of not having a fast enough shutter.

It was some pictures that Gdad took that got me thinking about the 50mm.
Here is the thread.

I was amazed by the pictures and I was looking at getting the 1.8 for better portraits but I did a little more research and decided to go with the 1.4

I would like to have the wide angle that I rented... maybe in time.

I've linked several times to a comparo of the Canon 50mm F1.8 and F1.4... Google should be able to locate it easily. Were it me, I'd have to go with the F1.4, the F1.8 is clearly not quite as good, and all reports are that the build quality is pretty cheap on the 1.8 - then again, it's a fast prime for dirt cheap, so it's hard to argue that point too much.

For the reply. My original post was on the 24mm f/ 1.4 . Not the fifty. Do you know of any information on this lens.:thumbsup2
