Anyone work midnights?? What do you do...

With your education, you could work at an Emergency Shelter, Foster Group Home, or a Residential Treatment Facility. The terminology may be different in Ohio than it is here in Texas, but these are all places where children are placed when they are removed from their parents and for whatever reason they can't live with a foster family. They operate 24hours/7days per week and always have a need for overnight workers/weekend/or PRN workers. I worked overnight all through college. I would check with Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services or google "Public Children Services Association of Ohio" and look in the directory.

...another nurse here! I work 7p-7a. My commute is short, only about 15 mins. It is convenient when your kids are of school age, you can sleep while they are at school, and be up by the time they get home. I don't have the issues that others have with it being too difficult on my body, but, if I do say so myself, I am an excellent sleeper!

My we have a lot of nurses here! Before becoming an RN I worked as a CNA, then a home health aide, mostly peds. I recommend looking into home health. Usually they are looking for aides to work with special needs kids. Your education experience may make you a good fit for that? Shifts often vary so you might find overnights or a day or evening short shifts that fits your schedule.

I just wanted to throw out another idea-- I used to be a teacher, too, before I had ODS and decided to stay home. For the past two years, I have been teaching home school classes once a week at a local home school alliance. The parents pay $35/month for an hour class. Currently I teach for three hours on Wednesdays (from 11am-2pm) and make about $500/month (and my classes are really small: between 3 and 7 kids in each class). Since I live in a large metropolitan area, I could easily pick up another day's classes at a different alliance if I wanted to make more money (or just choose to teach a few more classes at my current alliance). Anyhow, it's been great "play money". You might want to check into your local home school alliances and see if they need teachers. Also, DH used to work nights as an RN (he's an NP now), and he did not adjust well. We were SO happy when he got a regular 8-5 job as an NP! --Katie

What about finding a job at a preschool or daycare center that your youngest could also attend?
Or, similar to the homeschool idea, perhaps tutoring jobs that you could work around your DH's schedule?
Working retail for the opening shift may be another option, if you can find a place where the shifts line up right.
