Anyone with white hardie board siding?

We're looking at putting white hardie board on the exterior of the home we're having built. I have absolutely no experience with this, as we were renting before and are currently living in a condo. Does white siding get dirty? Is it a poor choice of color? I never thought something so simple like choosing exterior colours would be so difficult. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes it will get dirty. We pressure wash yearly to keep the house clean. Certain colors fade in the sun much quicker than others. White is good.

We have white and we also pressure wash every year - sometimes twice a year on the side of our house that's in the shade and tends to build up some mildew in fall/spring. You will have that with any color, it just may be more noticeable on the white.

I will echo PP mentioning that certain colors fade, so I feel like white is a safe choice, that may look better longer than other colors. I also think that you'll be less likely to get tired of white or have white look dated.
