We are driving down from NY on I-95 and wondering if sirius radio will work on the way down? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks, Linda

Can't imagine any reason why not. I know lots of people who do a lot of driving around the country and they use Sirius with great results.

We haven't had any problems with our sirius. Occasionally, when you are in the mountains, you may have a few minutes where you can't get service, but otherwise, we have used it with no problems.

You may get a few hiccups from obstructions (Mountains, trees, bridges, buildings) but for the most part it should be fine. Traveling is one of the reasons I love :lovestruc Sirius. No need to re-surf for new stations.

Yep love my Sirius!! No need to search for radio stations. We used Sirius last year from NJ to WDW and I don't remember any place that had a delay in service.

You will get reception 99.9% of the time. The only issues come in when you are in a place where the reception is blocked, as mentioned above...

We went on a 4200 mile driving trip this summer and had XM/Sirius on the whole trip with no issues....

XM/Sirius is great for traveling by car. The outages are very limited, as noted above. Love ours because we can listen to Sox games and NPL on XM wherever we are. :thumbsup2

ETA: Depending on the time of year we also take our portable receiver with us so we can continue to listen to important ;) programs (read: games) when we travel without our own car which has XM/Sirius built in.

Yes, and we use the traffic stations for Baltimore, Washington DC, Jacksonville and Orlando.

It always works great.

We have a portable receiver with an FM transmitter and the only problem we have had is finding an open FM frequency around the bigger cities. If your Sirius is part of the car stereo system you should have no problems. We just returned taking I95 down and the return trip through 95-26-77-81 and had no problem with reception.

Try using this:

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant

It shows the vacant fm station in the cities you plan to drive thru

Unlike the sirius fm locator, which only uses zip code search, this site you can type in the city. For example fm 87.9 is the best for Washington DC.

Both Sirius and XM can be received all across the 48 continguous states (as well as portions of Canada and Mexico).

I know in the DC area, there are no free stations. Do you have a cassette or an auxiliary port? They work much better.

On a recent AirTran flight to Puerto Rico, the on-board XM service remained active at least two-thirds of the way down before we finally flew south of its signal area.

We have it and it works great for us whenever we go cross country!:thumbsup2

Anybody want to buy my Sirius receiver? I don't use it enough to justify the cost... :(
