For some reason I can not remember a thing about this now closed restaurant. I don't think I ever ate their and I don't even remember it being open. I walk pass it about a hundred times when we go to Epcot and can remeber a thing about it.

I heard it was a counter-service type restaurant. Is this true? Also has anyone heard anything about this place? It is such a large building to be sitting there. I did go into the restrooms inside the building and peeked around the corner and just noticed a bunch of signage and boxes.

Thanks

I don't know much about it but it is used for certain events throughout the year. As a matter of fact, it is used for one of the Grand Gatherings' events now:

I'm sorry Mike........but on your next visit to Epcot, we'll have to duct tape you to the sidewalk and smear chocolate sauce over your body and let Flick's "Friends" ...... 'take care' of you! ;)

The Odyssey was indeed a counter-service restaurant. I remember eating lunch there many times in the 1980s; it would be our last Future World stop before heading to World Showcase.

It closed in the early '90s...maybe someone can help me with the exact date. It reminded me of the old Tomorrowland Terrace in the Magic Kingdom: lots of tables, two separate counter-service areas.

It was a lot like Tomorrowland Terrace. It was fast-food....burgers as I remember it...and also had a fixins bar between the service area and the seating. Our last visit to the Oddyssea was in 1988 and they also had characters in the evening. They did a song & dance on a stage then mingled with the guests.

We ate there in 1993, it was counter service (mostly burgers and chicken sandwiches). It was also a character meal (at least at lunchtime), Mickey, Minnie and Goofy visited each table. It was lots of fun and we all shot photos of ourselves with the characters.

As late as 2000, I ate in the Odyssey building...I played golf in college and Disney hosted our MAAC conference championships in the spring of 2000. They held our banquet at the Odyssey, catered food, nothing special though. There was a stage where the speakers were and tables set up. Looked like a regular banquet facility though...It's such an odd-looking building at this point!

Seems like a big waste of real estate to just let it sit there with no real use.
