For anyone who drives to WDW from the NY/NJ area do you stop for a night and where do you stop? My DW and I are planning to drive to WDW next September and we are leaving around 2:00 AM in order to miss the traffic around the Washing DC area. We plan on taking our time and making it a 2 day trip. I am trying to figure out where we should stop the first day and spend the night. If you have done it before do you have a favorite place to stop and why? Thanks.

2:00 am is a perfect time to leave. We have done the trip 3 times leaving from eastern Long Island at that exact time. We stop in Kingsland Georgia, which is right on the border of Florida. We stayed at The Holiday Inn Express. It is a very nice place, seemed to be new. They offer free cookies at night and a nice free breakfast. There are several other hotels right near by. There is a good choice of places to eat, and there is a Super Walmart right down the road. We like to get as much driving done on the first day as possible. We would leave Kingsland the next morning around 7:00 am, be in Florida in under 10 minutes, and be in Disney around 9:30 am. A short drive on the second day is the way to go. This way it does not feel like you are driving for two days straight.
