I just read the transcript on MSNBC. What is sad is that this was a small town. No more than 13,000 people. Small towns are supposed to be safe. This is really becoming a problem. I love the internet, it is a great tool, but it is making this "hunt" so much easier for pedophiles. I feel sorry for them and their families...and pretty scared for my kids. We have had to become quite graphic in our discussion about chat rooms and such. It just isn't fair.

I am not. I have seen many like it before on Dateline though. We just have to really watch our kids. Too many outside influences could hurt them.

Keep in mind that in 2007 the state of Connecticut will make it easy for 13, 14 and 15 year olds to run away from home and there will be no law available to detain them. The police can return them to their parents but there will be no law to prevent them from leaving again. This leaves this entire age group so vunerable to these freaks that will promise them a world with no restrictions in exchange for sex.

That was a very disturbing and sad show last night. Did you notice how normal all these pedophiles appear? They are all around us. People we work with, clergy, students, teachers, Dads, etc. They all claimed that it was the first time they ever did anything like that. Yeah, right.

Best advice is to know what your kids are doing on the internet, inform them of what is out there and keep your eye on them.

I didn't watch the show, but I watched a piece on MSNBC with the guy who does them. I use to go to Greenville once a month when I had my old sales territory. What amazed me about the 2 guys they showed was the fact that one was a teacher and the other had a 15 year old DD at home. It makes you wonder about the people around you. I know you can't keep your kids locked away in your home, but it really makes you want to.

Its sad, disgusting, and so scary. I have visited the site perverted justice (volunteers who work on these stings) and I couldnt look at more than a couple of links. Its very graphic, but it shows the actual transcrpts of these online chats these men are having with people they think are children. Its an interesting site thats for sure, but as I said very graphic and it turned my stomach.

What is so sad about this is that it isn't only men who are "hunting". We had a story on our local news last night about a 38 year old mom caught in the act with a 14 year old boy. I'm just not sure where we are heading! This is very disturbing. It is scary how "normal" these people are...not sick-looking people, just normal people with normal jobs. I have had to stress to my kids that these sick people can be anywhere and anyone....even a friend's parent. They know to never be alone with an adult who isn't mom or dad. Our computer is in the kitchen, in such a position that we cannot help but see what websites they are visiting. I don't know that they will ever have computers in their rooms.

I think something that is very important is to spend time with your kids, talk to them, and get to know them. Foster good self image and be honest with them. Just my opinion.

A station in Milwaukee WI. www.touchtmj4.com did a set-up last fall and caught at least 8 guys. The reporter won a lot of awards for this. The national news picked it up and I think a lot more police stations are setting up these sting operations.

In milwaukee they set up a vacant home in a really nice neighborhood. When they came to the home expecting to find 13, 14 yr old girls. Most guys ran away, but one did stay and admit he had a problem and he let them arrest him on the spot. This guy had a fiance and a small child and was suppose to get married. They had his case this spring and he asked to be given a mental evaulation-he felt he would rather go get help in a mental ward than go to jail. So now they are awaiting for that.

I have seen all 4 episodes. I enjoy seeing these disgusting people get caught, but it is soooo scary to know so many people like this are out there preying on children, to know this is a very small percentage of them is mind boggling. And, why do they all want to say something stupid, like, they were just lonely, or didn't plan to actually "do" anything. And what about the one that had the alibi note in his car? I guess he thought he was being "smart" and covering his behind. What an idiot! They make me sick!!! Then they want to throw religion in there, Give me a break! Ok, let me stop...........

My DH and I were watching it last night by chance. I am shocked to at how 'normal' these guys seemed. They really opened up too when asked questions about what and why they were doing this. I am glad the stings were set up but the question I have is how do they make the charges stick as the guys really didn't do anything with the minors. Yes they did walk through the doors with intent but nothing happened. How can you make that stick in the courts today?
